CD player stream to Sonos speakers

Can anyone recommend a good CD player that will stream wirelessly to Sonos speakers? Wifey has a ton of CDs that she'd like to listen to, but we don't have a home stereo system. I'm looking at a Sonos speaker set, but I don't want to deal with wires. We don't do any subscription streaming services, so that's not a factor. I just want a CD player that will work with Sonos speakers.

Good afternoon (here) good Sir, hope you and yours are safe and well.

You can't just connect a CD or Turntable to most Sonos speakers as you need a line-in connection.

The only one which has this is the Play 5. The other option if you don't want such a large speaker, as I have done for my turntable, is to get the Connect Amp and plug the player into that.

I know its not what you want but if it were me I would just get Spotify, only $10 a month and you can play almost every piece of music you could imagine.

Good luck!

If you already have an amplifier, you can use the Sonos Port. If you only have a CD-player, then the Sonos Amp is your best bet.

The $449 Sonos Port addon allows you to plug traditional stereo components (like a CD player) into it to allow you to use them with the Sonos Speakers.

if you have your CD player already running through an amp, then you could also look for an older / used sonos "connect" for a cheaper option -- if price is a concern. like the "port", you would plug it into your amp which then lets you join any of your sonos speakers to play music from the CD player through amp.

i have two "connects" within my home audio system and they're each over 10 years old and have worked without issue since the day i bought them. sonos gear is pretty much bulletproof, so i wouldnt hesitate to buy used if you trust the source.

I don't have a CD player or an amp, so at this point we're getting in too deep for what I want. I might be better off just going with a Bose Sound Wave system and call it a day. I'm half deaf anyway and Wifey is no audiophile, so something like a Bose system would work fine for us. I just liked the idea of wireless speakers, but I'm not willing to invest a ton for other equipment just to use them.

Thanks for all the replies, though. Much appreciated.

Interesting, wasn't familiar with this product? How long does it take to rip a CD into a FLAC file?

I use the sonos port to drive my receiver. That in turn will allow me to control the hard wired speakers in addition to all the wireless sonos speakers. Just select whatever you want on your receiver and it will play. I thinks it’s easier to just get Apple Music or Spotify and then the whole selection process works off your phone. It’s really easy.

If you have a SonoS Playbar for your TV and a DVD player, then you can

CD into DVD Player > TV > SonoS Playbar >> And on to any other SonoS on the SonoS Mesh.

This is how we play CDs - theonly downside is it activates the TV screen but after a while the TV goes into blank-screen mode if there are no input, but continues playing the CD.

I also have a turntable and adapter to a SonoS Connect and have started to buy vinyl again after a 25-year gap.
