Did any other husbands have this same experience?
Okay. So, I normally just go out and get a new car. I've learned in 17 years of marriage that it's easier to ask for forgiveness than permission.
So, I went out and got my new 2016 i8. No big deal (so I thought). The payments were very similar to my M6, so I figured I did well. The wife saw it in the garage and went ape-(you know what). You would have thought that I purchased a new Lamborghini, McLaren or any other exotic. I actually that at some point that I'd need to turn it back in and take a MASSIVE financial hit in the process. Fortunately, she got over it and all is well. I told her...."honey, it's only a BMW. Big deal." I guess it just took time for it to settle in. Looks like I'm still married. Anyone else? |

Hahaha my ex was like that. But now my financial decisions are not scrutinized anymore. If I made the decision then she knows I put enough thought into it. By still I will tell her before. That was a close one dude! Lol

Had a somewhat similar experience when I was contemplating buying an i8 when they first came out. Had to back out of it for other reasons, but suffice it to say, the wife was happy about that decision. After all, why does one need a fancy sports car, since they're only needed for transportation and anything should do.
Anyway, I am now planning on buying the MY 2018 car after the LCI. Guess I better start now getting her warmed up to the idea. |

I waited until after we were divorced.
But she always knew I had an addiction to BMWs, so it was part of life with me, "Look what followed me home, dear!"

My wife came with me on the test drive way back in Sep 2014. Since that moment, she was fully on board, and I went in and ordered a week later. Took delivery Jan 2015, and she wants to drive it all the time. Loves the looks she gets from men when a woman gets out of that car ... ;-)

For whatever reason...
My wife would not let me pick up an i8 - even though it was a screaming deal. Actually I know her reasons and they were valid.

I came home yesterday with the i8. She asked me why I didn't tell her that I was going to get the car. I told her I did...but obvious she wasn't listening. I told her I felt disappointed that she doesn't listen to anything I say....then I said I was going for a drive to cheer me up.

This is great !
My Mrs does not really bother how and when I change my cars, but each time I do, she just rolls her eyes and walks away in a sort of `pretend` disgust....... However......when I rocked up in the i8, she just came outside, eyes widened, and said.....` Oh my god, it `s like a proper supercar` ! I was a little hurt to be honest ! |

Well, I used a bit of a reverse psychology. When I went in to test it and made a sweet deal with my M4 as a trade in, I got my wife to try the car. She liked it but I told her I'm just concerned it won't be practical as the trunk is non existent and the back seats are not. Her response was 'don't worry about that; we have my car (which is 328GT) and if you like it, go for it'. Done deal!!!
