The MadTv skit was from a US Gov't approved fat additive that didn't go so well, Olestra. It was a Soybean based oil used for potato chips as a 'low fat' option. The way it was made it wasn't able to be broke down by the human body and it did actually leak out.

It was the evil joke before those Haribo bears and their sugar substitute.
