Car and driver has M4 0-60 bests of 3.7s. I'm sure i8 also can beat its own 4.4s rating but not by almost a second.

i8 is more expensive for many other reasons not just to be the fastest, its the future absolutely, but the early adopters have to pay for sure.
Their i8 0-60 was 3.7 or 3.8, can't remember.

I look at it this way: it takes the Camaro 505 hp to beat the i8 by 0.1 sec - without any turns involved.

The i8 does extremely well against the M4 and the Camaro with a serious HP deficit. I am quite pleased with the performance.

Was LC used in the race by any of the vehicles?

I've had my M4 (with DCT -- supposedly faster than a stick) since April. And while I haven't tracked either car, the M4 sure sounds like its hustling to 60 faster. The i8 does it in pretty much the same time with absolutely no drama. As I've said, the i8 is a string quartet and the M4 is a rock band. Different cars that go 0-60 in essentially the same time.

I too have noticed this, my M6 felt like it hit 60 in a split second even during major traction loss where it was surely not getting up there nearly as fast as it should. The i8 not the other hand does it in about the same amount of time, theoretically, but since there is a lot less drama, a lot less tire screeching and rubber burning, it doesn't feel like it's doing it equally as fast except when you notice just how deep it has pushed you into your seat. I think the AWD and how linear and immediate the torque delivery is has a lot to do with it.

My description to other is that the i8 propels you forward without any drama, and so it deceives you. Tesla roadster slams you back, powerful ICE engines rev up and you hear/feel the drama, but with the i8 I tell them to just look at the speedometer. Because no matter how much experience they have with cars they will always underestimate how fast we are going and how little time it took to get there.

Agreed.

I also tell them to look back at the traffic in the other lane if I've been on a, 'demonstration run'. They are always astounded at the distance we have put on them in a handful of seconds.
