i8 Car Cover?

Wondering if anyone knows if there is an official BMW cover for the i8, specifically an indoor one. Mine is about to get put up for the winter and I want something to keep the dust off until spring. I'll be resorting to some bed sheets pretty soon if they don't.

Looked at German and British BMW sites and did not see anything specific for the i8

I bought one of those. Sportscar medium. Cost very little, ultra soft and looks like it was taylor made for the car. Extremely happy.

In fact i have one for each of my cars.

Costco sells one. It costs < $150. I haven't purchased one, but at least if you're not satisfied it's easy to return items to Costco.

Sorry, just noticed you're in the UK. I don't know if they ship to the UK, but if they do, the Coverking from Costco may still be an option for you.

I bought one from Hamiltonclassics, but then didn't end up parking outside anyway. But it did fit.

Do you still have the pic of the cover on?

LOL

Sorry, no I deleted the pic some time afterwards.

It did fit, but is not a snug fit. You do not want a snug fit on an outdoor cover though, as a bit of ventilation is good.

I then bought an indoor cover from them though, as the i8 is always in my garage. It is a snug fit, and is of course not waterproof.

BMW do a cover, but it's an outdoor one, it is also horrendously expensive:

Personally, I have Specialist Car Covers tailor made covers on my cars

I have an outdoor cover. I bought it from here:

https://www.the-cover-store.com/1156...i8_Base_Ultima

It was only $239 with a 7 year warranty. It does the job but with high winds, it can uncover so I had to buy 2 sets of this. one set in front, one set in back.

https://www.amazon.com/Gust-Strap-Co...r+cover+bungee

It worked great.

Since I sold my i8, I do have it available for a fraction of the cost. Let me know if anyone is interested. Unfortunately, I do not have pictures

It is quite cool! But BMW outdoor covers are usually a bit rubbish as they billow in the wind causing paint marring, plus the price of it, I think it was something like £700 which is insane!

reliable alternatives

From the messages on this post, it appears that the i8 cover being sold by BMW is not worth the money for what it is. Is there an other product available in mainland Europe (or the US) that someone is using and would recommend?

My car is parked indoors (common garage for residents of the apartment building) and I don't plan to drive it during the winter.

I have a Stormshield+ outdoor cover for my M3 CSL, from these guys, and it's simply superb, had the BMW covers (rubbish), and also the Classic Additions outdoor cover before which was not very good either.

This is far superior to any cover i've used before.

See my post above. I use the Hamilton Classics indoor cover now. It's excellent.
