Turns out when you put a slower car against a faster car in a drag race, the slower car loses. Who knew? Maybe they should race it against the DCT mode to give it a chance at least

Damn electric insta torque low weight and traction gets it moving quick!
Will say that was a pretty poor too high rev dump launch with a lot of spin. If you can get it to grip I'm sure they'll run a bit more neck and neck |

All that wheel spin from the M4. Wish I knew what he said. Anyway Id like to see a better race of these two cars.

So the i8 with its 215mm rear tires and a heavy battery, has more grip off the line and beats the M4 with its 275mm rear tires and a lot more power ? Even with a slower start, the M4 should have caught up with the i8 until the race end. If the race is for real, then props to the i8 and shame to the M4.

Fact is, matching an i8 with an M235i 8 speed would be more interesting. That is after one prior launch when the i8 doesn't have a full charge.

I8 loses to the M4 in this race. The M4 should pull away from the i8, especially after 60mph.

Agreed! Closer than expected for the manual. M4 keeps up just fine for roughly half the price. Love both of these cars!

In a mile race m4 beats i8 relatively quickly. In ten supercar race from recent magazine

The i8 is lighter has 4wd and instant torque, the M4 has a bad driver who dumps the clutch like burnout mode on the DCT.... no comparison.
In this vid they didn't use the Launch Control on the i8 either so... Fact is that the i8 is blistering fast of the line. Here's a vid of my i8 doing launch control on a wet road. Facebook Video |
