For sure! With that M4 launch (way too much wheelsman - no launch control) I think my 335 xdrive would have done better.
Meaningless really - let's lap the cars around the Ring several times and see which one comes out on top - the M4 obviously. M3/M4 are great track cars - really optimized for full out driving. I think an 335/435 xdrive is probably a better daily driver - it just isn't going to shine on a track day. |

All these butthurt people just went full retard. Never go full retard. Probably the same folks who said the F8X is going to crap on the M5/6 before it came out. You get what you pay for. |

Both wonderful cars.
Completely pointless test. A) in-gear acceleration (30-50, 30-70, 50-80 etc) is far more relevant to 99% of situations where you need your car to perform and increase speed rapidly (why doesn't any magazine show these comparisons?!) B) 4WD electric hybrid is bound to put power down better than RWD turbo initially as others have said C) no one will ever actually race in an i8 because it's not for that and batteries run out |

This has almost become a youtube comment site but not quite...
So we are comparing an AWD car with an automatic tranny and instant electric tq to a RWD manual car with a driver that clearly has no idea what he is doing... I am gonna guess no one know what a 5 MPH difference in trap speeds means between the 2 cars.

Well this is about the 4th thread in Bimmerpost on this video, its all going the same way.
i8 Awesome halo car in the range, its great but different to an M. M4 is a best but not in a 6MT driven by a noob. As with anything look for another video and the result is reversed. As per comments nothing wrong with being beaten by a car that cost twice as much. All these comparison are actually very flattering to the M4, the press obviously thinks its on a par with 911S (early review in which M4 loses) i8 etc etc. Pitch an M4 against anything else in the exact segment and there's no need for there is no debate As this is i8 forum section I should end with a very positive comment that they are awesome, I recall seeing my 1st in a dealers and its just epic, so low!! Its also about one of the most exclusive cars in the world right now. Congrats to all owners. We're all Bimmerheads here lets not fall for the trolling video reviews. Happy New Year.

Bull crap
Not buying this...
Elec torq would def make the i8 pull off the line faster, but the M4, [if driven properly] without all the wheel spin, would've caught the i8 half way through the race. BS!! This is hype for the i8.

The 0-60 times for the two vehicles are essentially the same (and the i8's reported times are slower than they really are), so all the disbelievers need to read the test results. One video, with a poorly driven M4 is not going to matter much. The data don't lie.

i3's tech is simplistically amazing!
Quote:
I drove the i3 and the tech was simplistically amazing! Super quick off the line in total silence like a Ninja, all I herd was the wind whipping in the window. When I took a long test drive in the Hamptons I stopped at a traffic light in the i3 and a dude in his new Mustang was like - please, low and behold I could have spanked him off the line to my amusement. The i's are the future, now let's see a concept of an i4M, now that's what I want. I will take mine in Frozen Black. Last edited by DCG; 12-31-2014 at 12:26 PM.. |

I did several duels with my wife, me driving E92M3 DCT and wife E60 530d xDrive. She was faster every time, I had to push up to 65 mph until I could reach her. And this just due a mild rain. So, in real life comparison 4WD cars are usually faster since they need no skills or optimal conditions to drive fast and straight. Why argue about this? M4 is a nice car, but i8 easier to handle by non-professional drivers.

Also, should M4 beat i8 BMW will look silly charging 3x the price for the i8. An expected result.

Car and driver has M4 0-60 bests of 3.7s. I'm sure i8 also can beat its own 4.4s rating but not by almost a second. i8 is more expensive for many other reasons not just to be the fastest, its the future absolutely, but the early adopters have to pay for sure.
