Most are found within housing communities (….Ladera Ranch or Coto de Caza in Orange County), but they are smaller roundabouts.

When someone wants to fight they should recognize the consequences of their decision. Use of Force reports are a pain in the ass but out department thankfully had a relatively short form to fill out. Your personal note book was where the pages of writing happened.

I have no first hand experience with them as they were brought in for front line after I retired, but I've been told that they reduce the number of complaints about excessive force significantly.

Not really. If anything it makes the reports longer and it can give attorneys more ammo if you happen to get something wrong.

This idiot not only tied up one officer but two more with his tirade. I have found that if you don't come off as an a$$ immediately, there's a decent probability that your interaction with the officer is going to be positive. I've been let off with warnings from officers I think due to not coming off as a smartass.

Not the same but this incident reminds me of a call I was on. We were responding for a one down (town drunk). Got to an intersection where the call was reported looking for said drunk. We see him on the right. My driver signals and starts the turn. Mind you we have our emergency lights on. Then bam. Damn idiot hits the side of our rig trying to pass us on the inside of our turn. Cops show up. The medic unit from our station was dispatched to take care of our call. Our squad truck also responds.

I'm overhearing the cops interview said a$$hole and all I hear was him saying he did nothing wrong and we took too long to make the turn. This happened in front of a Dunkin Donuts and a bunch of witnesses came forward to the cops. Said we had our emergency lights and we clearly signaled that we were making a right turn. Jerk was cited for failure to yield to an emergency vehicle.

So one impatient idiot tied up two EMS units, a squad truck, and I think 2 or 3 cops. And one of the big things is operational medic units are at a premium in our area.

This video could be a high school driving class tutorial on how not to act when being pulled over by a LEO.
