Just this morning I was thinking of doing a follow-up post about how great the French Roast beans are from Hamptons Coffee, when I noticed my Virtuoso burr grinder wasn't feeding the beans reliably. I figured it was just clogged... I do love my oily beans! Well, turns out the Plastic Burr Holder snapped in half. Apparently this is a sacrificial part that snaps instead of binding the motor if something especially hard goes through the grinder. The parts aren't expensive, but I'm going to have to slum it with pre-ground beans while I wait for the parts. I picked up a new ring burr and essentially two holders so I have a spare next time.

My current coffee solution at home is quality and user friendly.
A versatile, adjustable grind Hamilton Beach grinder and my heavy duty stainless steel french press. 4 scoops of beans. Press button. Add water. Then enjoying real cups of brew.
French Roast only.
Had very expensive grind/brew/espresso units but they were nothing but a PITA over time.
Via PRIME I get 2 x 40oz. bags of Starbucks French Roast for 41.00 in 48 hrs.
I’m very contented with my coffee solution.

Just finished my usual 7oz morning cap...this time using COLOMBIA CARLOS IMBACHI GEISHA, from local roaster Kaldi's 'Cupping Series'.

I don't mind spending $ on nice beans...but...these sold for like $24 for 6oz....Luckily, they were gifted to me. They were a lil long in the tooth, when I got them, but still a nice balanced bean.

Up next, a Congo Muungano...

I'm a fan of just about any roast Peet's makes as long as it's made in a Chemex.

Anderson's Coffee in Austin. They roast themselves, reasonably priced, and they ship to anywhere (Fedex).

Thanks. Used to love Sumatra, but have been on a Central America tear recently, but will give these a shot, always nice to have local alternatives.

I like the Sumatra for the low acid content.

Yeah, I like natural and honey process for the lower acidity and stronger fruit flavors. However I also like press for the lack of a paper filter, so get some of the acid back.

I'm terrible - I dislike press and drip filter - I have espresso, or instant

My sister does the instant thing. I do press, pour over, espresso, Bialeta and Turkish at home.

I do press or drip at a stretch. Turkish is too much for me (the espresso I have is a flat white or a latte, not straight or even Americano).

I, too, am a Black Rifle Coffee fan. A friendly warning though, go through the beans and look for foreign objects. One bag I used had a small pebble in it that jammed my burr grinder and stripped the motor gears. A $200 grinder now useless. Repair with shipping would have been +$160.

I have a Barazza Vario (I think that's how it's spelled) and it has a plastic "fuse" in the chain such that if a stone gets in the burrs it just snaps and protects the burrs. Cost a bit more than $200 though, but I can highly recommend it as a grinder. Ceramic burrs at that.

Yea I'm currently using pre-ground Starbucks because the sacrificial part in my grinder gave way. I just ordered a hand grinder from Amazon to use while I wait for the part to be delivered.
