Hi everyone, I have just purchased a 2018, i8 coupe. Collect it on Monday and can’t wait. Will post pics once its home. I am based in the UK.
The i8 will be replacing my Golf GTE which I normally ran in ev mode as I only work 2 miles from home and have a free charge point at work. When looking for an i8 I was not sure whether to go for a 7.1 or 11.6 kwh version. In the end I opted for the latest 11.6 version. Question: Apart from the range, is there much difference in performance between the two versions? |

7bhp difference between the two, stats are identical, some say they feel a difference, some don't, in reality they were focussing on extending the range, the extra notch in power was just a bonus. I personally prefer the look of the original, love the scoop in the bonnet, I understand why they had to change it for the roadster, but should've left alone for the coupe. |

The lack of the large bonnet air vent is one thing that has stopped me from swapping to a roadster. I really like it.
Like the vents around the rear screen. - great for warming gloves when going walking in the hills. |

I personally think that new bonnet fixed design flaw and air flow at the same time, that's how different taste can be |

Most of the performance differences involve handling. The coupe is a twitch quicker, and has a bit more for tunes to work with.

Imho the old model is performing a touch better (0-62 4.2 sec to 4.4/4.6 sec for LCI/roadster) because the new model's extra HP are eaten up by the additional battery weight. But in return of it Roadster and LCI Coupe have got a different suspension to reduce the understeer problem. A bit....
As the i8 is no track car anyway I would go for the LCI Coupe. |
