Cool My 2013 GT500, pics + review

Edit** video clip

Sorry for the horrible audio quality... something went wrong between the reviewing and saving phase. will have to fiddle around with it.. But she sounds a little something like this..

Been a member for a while now and currently drive a E90 3 series... I also had a 2006 evo 9 that made a bunch of power (about 700 awhp) then parted it out for basically stock and sold it a little while after. In anticipation of buying a new M3, I knew I wanted something I would be content with stock or at least as close to stock as possible. So I needed something with a lot of power, and a decent warranty...

I wont make anyone fall asleep with my boring comments, but I will say a few things. This is my first mustang, and the reason was becuase of boring hard interiors that left you wanting more... Ford addressed this recently and this car has a far superior interior to its recent models. The obvious thing is the seats. The leather is soft, and the alcantera suede inserts keep you planted tightly. One thing near by I really like is the soft rubber they used where your right knee lays against. Very soft unlike my bmw or my evo was. The steering wheel is also a very thick leather wrapped top and alcantera suede on the sides and bottom... The dash and doors are also softer than previous years and have the feel of leather, but obviously a foam.

I will say the M3 interior is Far nicer in terms of suppleness, but for the GT500 being a mustang, I can honestly say its a step in the right direction. With ford aiming for the euro market in 2015, I can see them changing things to fit the likings of the Europeans.

The paint came pretty nice, obviously a few flaws under the clear I noticed but in spots most would not see if they were not intentionally looking at it. The fit and finish of all the body panels line up nicely as well.

As it sits for the engine/driveline thats where this car shines.
When the car starts up, there is a nice reminder when the gargle pops under ignition. The clutch is fairly heavy, but coming from a twin disc exedy evo clutch I feel like its normal for me. First gear even with traction control on still makes the car get swirly even under 30-40% throttle. First gear goes over 60 mph.... 3rd gear is my favorite gear so far. 130+ in 3rd is insane, and the speed comes on really fast.

The brakes are pretty good for 3900 pounds, but I feel a bit of nose dive under harder braking mixed with deceleration.

I get more stares in this than any car I have ever owned, and am actually really impressed with everything about it thus far. If I had to complain about anything these would be the things.

1) cup holder cover closed attempts to open while your arm is on it
2) feels big, not agile like my evo. But more stable in all categories.
3) the speakers are PAR at best. Nav screen is very nice though.
4) seat to steering wheel / pedal locations. Built for tall people, short people from outside look like they have to sit VERY close.

I am satisfied! Even after getting 5 months after ordering it!!!

Nice Shelby, I am beyond impressed with what ford is bringing to market these days.

I can't wait to see the 'world' mustang in 2015

Thank you,

Its strange that I was cross shopping with a 2011.5 E93 M3 just a few months ago. I am not one to brag for underdogs but I honestly think the over quality of this car (minus the million HP) is outstanding. Ford is heading in the right direction, and its only going to make the competition respond! Better for everyone really....

Got a little off of it... Got it at my local dealer (3 miles away) and got the first and only allocation for 2013. They may get another retail order later, but I had to wait 5 months basically for this thing to show up as it is.

Here are some engine bay pictures

Here ya go, sorry its dirty. drove it all night.

Handles well but has 667 hp!!! Hard to overlook that for under 60k. This thing will pull on anything all day and handle well while doing it

Just curious but why did you pick the GT5 over the Boss?

To be honest the same reason I did not buy the M3. I do not want an NA motor... Although the boss is an amazing machine, it shares just WAY to much of the 5.0 for $50,000. Would absolutely have to get a full exhaust, probably tune and headers etc etc. And then boost it obviously.

I told myself if I was going to get a mustang, it would be the baddest mustang I could afford.
