So to confirm, for this particular run, it was fully done with the e40 correct? I'm trying to look for all the usual visual cues of this being the e40(mirrors, badging, etc) and I can only see the e40. I may be wrong though.

I know it even states in the opening of the video that it's the e40 but I'm confused reading some comments haha. Hopefully it's all e40, meh, I do not have the skills to drive like this but cool to know that it's capable

It's definitely an e40 in the video. Notice no M-style mirrors and the grille emblem is "I" not "///M".

Nah, I looked closer and it's an eDrive40.

Balls of steel. Really, don’t try this at home.

Sounds like this was an e40, but for the sake of conversation re:drifting... The i4 m50 is dual motor right? My Tesla Model 3 Performance (dual motor obviously) can shift power bias 100% to front or rear in track mode (user configurable). I am kind of assuming/hoping BMW is going to allow adjusting xDrive settings at least to some extent.

Yes on i4 m50 dual motor.
No, you can't turn off xDrive, sorry, no track mode! 😢

Actually Eco mode will leave the front motor freewheeling unless there is a substantial power or DSC demand.

Not sure what that would do for drifting since you are also left with only half the power. (Whatever power the rear motor has). May not be enough to let you really drift.

In an ICE setup, some AWD systems can shift ALL the power to one or both of the axles, depending. That’s very different.

Yeah the GTR among others. That's a great point re:just losing power in the Tesla when the bias is adjusted haha. It looks like Tesla's handling bias is implemented in a weird/clever way so you get full power in a straight line (no bias to rear) until you start to corner and then it reduces power to the motor to change how the car rotates in turns. One of the preset track modes is called "Drift preset" - I'm sure it's still capable even with reduced power - you're throwing a lot of weight into those turns. There's also nearly zero chance I ever use it since I'm not a YouTube reviewer or whoever needs that at this point.

My take is while roaring ICE sounds and vibrations gets the hearts pounding, the senses can still be reconditioned/retrained to pick up the BEV sounds and vibrations(including synthetic ones), assuming the senses are not yet dulled/weakened already.
