Forza Horizon 5

My favorite racing game is about to release its newest version.

However there has not been a single mention of any BMW. I don't get it, BMW was well represented in the previous game.

I enjoyed 3 and 4. Looks like areas within a city will be disappointingly small for this one. I'll probably buy it but am wondering if it'll turn into just more of the same as the previous games.

I hope the new forza has better engine sounds, in many cars the sound of engine is very bad in FH4.

I haven’t seen this confirmed yet, but I have heard they worked on the wheel support. It was quite bad in 4, I ended up just playing on controller.

The usual suspects are all there, based on this listing. Nothing newer than 2019 though. Was sort of expecting BMW to maybe push for one of the newest gen M cars to try to beat us over the heads with the buckteeth.

Picked this up yesterday. Really fun. The map is more fun to drive around than FH4, and although I use a controller everyone's reporting the wheel support is really good now.

I put a bunch of hours into FH3 and 4, and thought this may feel repetitive but it's nice to have the new map, events, progression, etc. Driving physics are improved also.

I think I played FH4 too much to enjoy this. It has already gotten to the stage where I'm forcing myself to do tasks just so I can get the AE86. I can see how it's a great chillout game... but I'd rather have something with clear progression that's constantly demanding.

Man, I miss PGR.

I have already played Forza 5 and I think it is just amazing. This game could be relaxing but also really frustrating, it depends only of your settings in the game And I also think, that this game looks just amazing, even on mid-level graphic card. Also engine sounds are better than in Forza 4.

My biggest complaint with the game is the off-road racing. Theres no drifting through a corner like in rally racing because you'll just lose traction and slide off course, and off road AWD literally means nothing compared to RWD. Theres a few smaller things that also irritate me, but the dirt racing dynamics is by far the biggest let down.

I've been saying the same thing! MS Flight Sim uses AI and online sat imagery to build the map as you fly, why can't we do the same with other open world games? I think it'd be awesome to play something like fallout or horizons on real maps of the US.

I enjoyed Forza 4 quite a bit, along with my grandkids, so I decided to buy Forza 5. I made the purchase right after I upgraded my computer to an AMD Ryzen 9 5900X 12-core CPU and ASUS ROG Crosshair VIII Hero motherboard. Forza 5 worked just fine.

Then I completed my planned computer upgrades with an ASRock Radeon RX 6900 XT OC Edition graphics card and Forza 5 went bonkers. So, I installed the very latest video drivers from AMD and still no go. The latest drivers do allow the game to launch, but the stutters and maybe 5 FPS are completely unusable.

All of my other games including Microsoft FS 2020 run extremely well with 100 to 120+ frame rates, even with the details maxed out.

Weird.

Sounds like a bad install? maybe try starting over for the game itself...?

I'm not a huge fan of the AMD cards lately they're so unreliable, my 5700xt I purchased a couple years ago seems to konk out when it hasn't been warmed up.

For the record I can run it on my 5700xt in 4k on high (haven't tried ultra yet) with no issue or dropped rates.

Weird.
I had to play around with refresh rate within the game when mine was having issues. I had to make sure the refresh rate matched the screen I was using. I wasn't getting bad stutter, but was getting bad flashing poor rendering. Might be something to look at?

I monkeyed around with it some more and got it working in the 21:9 aspect ratio mode. Runs real smooth.

Single player is fantastic, but couldn't get into the online modes on FH5. I think online is the one area that could do with a major overhaul in the next FH game.
