Don't know about custom names, but one thing I DON'T want is holes drilled in the front beaver teeth for a mounting plate, or anywhere on the bumper. We are lucky to live in a state that doesn't require a front plate (with an extra fee) and have really appreciated that on our X5s. Dealers are pretty quick to jump the gun and start drilling if you don't remind them about a dozen times. Would also be interesting to see the alternative mounting hardware for those that do need a front plate - considerable discussion in the G05 forum. I'm guessing the LIDAR and other hardware is mounted fairly high up, so wouldn't be affected by a mount. Not so bad in Europe, but the US plates really are a billboard, so would lend themselves well to custom lettering....

I’ve ordered one for mine :-) Here’s a photoshop mockup. I was pretty surprised that it was even available to purchase so snapped it up the day I paid the deposit for the iX :-)

No drilling. The iX license plate frame for front is double side tape.

Interesting - I wouldn't think that would be secure enough for big US plates + frame, particularly exposed to weather/airflow/car wash, in addition to somehow removing the plates annually for the sticker and reinstalling. 3M makes some pretty tough resin now though....

The plate holder is held on with one time use tape. The license plate is still screwed onto the license plate holder.

Ontario Canada plates - the good, the bad and the ugly

The good: as of March 1st 2022 no more stickers and annual fees! And EVs get green plates that give free access to HOV/carpool lanes with a solo driver.

The bad: green plates can't be custom/vanity plates. No MUSKLESS for me…

The ugly: although the government thought about getting rid of front plates in 2019, it didn't happen and we're stuck with them, at least for now. And the redesigned silver letters/blue background plates they tried were unreadable at night and had to be discontinued, but they weren't recalled and they're still on some cars - epic fail
