Trunk/boot lid spring problems - SOLVED

Hi Folks. I decided to replace the trunk/boot lid spring and plunger after seeing folks on the BMW i8 group on Facebook post pictures of broken parts. Their dealers were making them wait up to two weeks to have the part replaced, and some folks stated that the part broke soon after purchase. If this part breaks, you don't want to drive the car.

It cost me $20 to buy a set of replacement parts online. I also bought another set to keep in the glove compartment. I made sure to create a video on how to perform this work in case others are concerned. The description in the video contains all the part numbers you need, along with some links to a supplier, in case you want to do this as preventive maintenance or repair your i8.
