Agree, I was worried about range on the M60. It has been great for me.

My average in mixed driving has been 360 miles.

So iX beat the Model X LR which is rated to go much further
m60/22" EPA = 274mi
Model X LR/20" EPA = 348mi

Yes Model X achieve 331mi ... iX achieved 339mi!

So the iX beats the X by 2% (8mi) instead of losing by 22% (74mi)...

These side by side real world tests are very important until we get better testing standards.

The next thing to see over the next few years is how each brands battery pack aging performs. Different thermal management and overprovisioning could impact how much of the pack is lost over time.

Honest question. I read these mileage discussions, but is it true that a battery will deplete in a similar manner in its final miles as seen in early miles on full charge? Most things I read show " driving to x%" then extrapolation. I need to read on " to battery zero" tests if they exist...

Each EV behaves differently. Some are linear and some are not. Out of spec and Bjorn Nyland both drive drive down to zero, sometimes until it's out of juice at 70mph and 120kmh respectively. Also interesting is how much each EV will reduce power near the end.

Right, the %/miles remaining displayed is a work of software.
It is up to each cars BMS & software to decide how much battery is kept "in reserve" to allow you to keep driving near/at 0% and how the power is limited to allow you to crawl into a charger in an emergency.

I wouldn't make a habit of going down to 0.0%, and personally I've never gone below 5%, but then again I never took a gas car much below 1/4 and certainly never went low enough to trigger the gas light.

I get about 300 on a full charge (extrapolated from down to 10%) if I'm "hypermiling" and about 250-260 when I'm really on it at "higher" freeway speeds. This is on the 50i.

That's amazing. We have a 2020 model Y LR and the new 2022 model S LR.

I'm curious enough to try out a similar test but I doubt the Y will be anywhere close.

What is the size of the battery in the M60?

Just as a general EV rule, especially to anyone that iX is their first EV- I would avoid going to/below 5% unless you are pulling into your own home garage you know you have a working charger.

Given the current charging network state (especially CCS) if you land at a charger at 5% and its out of service, you are in serious trouble if the next charger is more than 15mi away.

Similarly if you land at a charger and its full, you put yourself in a position of having no choice but to wait because you can’t make it to the next charger.

Lastly if you land at a charger and its running low power (say 20kW-50kW) then again you have no choice but to at least charge for 20min to make it to the next fully working fast charger.

Flatbeds dropping off depleted cars was a not uncommon sight at Tesla superchargers in my 4 years of ownership.
