Unhappy Central multimedia control display malfunction

Hi all guys,
I'm writing from Italy so sorry for my bad english.

Anyway, I have a trouble with my central multimedia control display, the multimedia display.

Everything is ok until when I connect my iphone 6 plus.

Let me explain:
1) Activate bluetooth
2) Pairing the phone
3) Activate playlist from the multimedia display (works)
4) Make a call (works)
5) Siri (works) and so on...

but after 15/20 minutes the screen freeze, the central multimedia control display turn in black and reboot.
This happens in loop mode every 15/30 minutes and in any option (I mean that it happens in navigation or music play or simply edrive menu).

This happens if I'm using the iphone (using playlist or making a call) either if not (leaving it connected but idle), but happens only if the iphone is connected.

The iphone is updated to latest IOS version.
If I delete the phone from the bluetooth list the central multimedia control display works perfectly.

Any idea?
I attach a video of the event:

Thanks a lot and have a good day!

Sandro

Sorry you're having an interface issue with your iPhone 6 Plus. Both my 6 Plus and 6 have worked flawlessly with the i8 media console thus far.

Unsure if it is an iPhone issue, which may require a thorough reinstall, or whether the i8 media console software needs to be either updated or reinstalled by your BMW dealership. In exploring either scenario, I would first contact your BMW service advisor to diagnose and remedy the issue. Good luck!

I had a similar issue on my 2015 X4. I was told by BMW that it's related to iCloud and the constant sync it does. They told me to unpair the phone, turn off iCloud on the phone and then pair again.

Interesting. While that may fix the symptoms, surely, this can't be the final solution. Something isn't working right there. I have an iPhone 6, I have iCloud turned on, and I don't have that issue.

Could it be related to cellular network speed? Maybe the system hangs itself when a new sync request is started while the previous one isn't finished yet? But even that seems unlikely, as I'm sure most of us have driven in areas with poor network performance.

I must admit, I was a bit sceptical, but it seems to have fixed the problem here for the time being. I'm just keeping an eye on it and if it does reappear will be heading back to the service department to take another look.

Ciao to all,
yesterday I tried this:

take out from a dusty drawer an old iphone 4.
Sync with itunes and connected it to the car as ipod with USB cable.

Delete the option bluetooth music from iphone 6.

So now it is:

Iphone 6:
only call function with bluetooth.
music bluetooth option disabled.

Iphone 4:
only music from USB connection

The problem disappear.

I solve it.
The BMW hasn't a solution because they say it should work....

Ciao to all and thanks a lot for your help.

Sandro
