I have the 6FL option, where I connected my iPhone via AUX-IN and USB. The problem is that the conversion to analogue signals takes place in the phone, then they're transmitted. The USB is used only for song info.

Due to the resulting static and sometimes audibly poorer quality, I've bought a USB drive and put my songs in there. The files are converted in the car's audio system, which results in better sounds (no static etc.)

I have e90 330i with logic 7 and I got the ipod most kit installed. When I use a regular IPOD it works great CD 2 is all artists and CDC 1 is play lists on my navi screen. I plugged in the iphone to see what would happen and it does work and sounds great the only catch is that you can view by artist and playlist it just gives you on long list of all the tracks. other then that you have to use an AUX port or an FM modulator

Thanks.
How does the USB drive work with the car. BTW, I don't have a navigation.

As far as your car is concerned, your iPhone is just an ipod duct-taped to a phone. Use Bluetooth like any other cell phone, and the dock connector like any other iPod.

Oops, looks like it's not possible to retrofit to get the USB option:

Sorry Maybe there's some other way someone else knows about...

They didn't discontinue the iPod adapter when 6FL was introduced, you know. It still works fine.
