I have to disagree with this....to an extent. I can't speak for everyone, I can only speak for myself. I am one of "these guys." Confident, but not cocky. There is something to be said about being confident, but being respectful of others.....I think it's called being a gentleman. Assholes are not gentlemen. Plenty of confident men out there that don't demonstrate toxic qualities.

Thanks - I am proud of my system - too proud in some ways. I see it as an extension of me. I speak of it in the first person as in "when this happens I do..." meaning my system does. So when numpty juniors screw it up, I also take it personally. It's stressful.

To me it's no different to Gordon Ramsey whipping up dinner for you. To us, it's amazing what he does with the colors and textures and flavors, and to him it's just what he does. There's no magic or secret to it - he's just extremely skilled at doing it. Not that I am comparing myself to Gordon Ramsey, but I see the system as just "what I do" and I didn't come up with any magic or secret techniques to do it. There's a few tricky bits that took a bit to work out, but I am sure given time anyone (any programmer) could have worked it out.

Disagree. That type of behavior is typical of someone who is compensating for insecurity. True confidence doesn't require assholery.
