I don't get how they can introduce idrive8 and then they have removed android screen Mirroring and video playback from USB stick!

So a tesla owner can watch Netflix while charging and we want even play a video from USB which was possible in idrive7?

Do you guys think it will come in a update later just like iconic sounds etc ?

Page 56 of the Owners Handbook details iD8's virtual alternative to the physical 1-8 Shortcut preset keys. Apparently an upward swipe up from the bottom of the control display (or upward tilt of controller) will reveal a Quick Access menu of virtual Shortcuts.

No development in planing charging points along the route. No possibility to choose Ionity as preferred station. No automatic display of all charging statins along the tour. No dynamic adjustment of charging recommendations due to SOC. disappointed.

This is what bmw chooses for you. Doesn't change when your soc changes. You can not have preferences like Ionity, which costs you half price.

Is this confirmed removed or just not documented?

I collected my eDrive40 here in Australia a few weeks ago. I was surprised and disappointed to find that the media mass storage (hard disk) has been discontinued. If you want mass storage, plug in a USB memory stick.
On the plus side, it will play video files or movies on the central screen from the USB.

In the US we can download the "BMW" app that is meant for accessing manuals electronically , including how to videos, then the i4 can be added as a demo vehicle and will have up to date i4 manuals that you can search through. This is especially useful if you're trying to find something specific.

It is a cool app. It even has a .pdf version of my e39 owner's manual!

Anyone seen a comprehensive list of voice commands? With the removal of the physical buttons, I’m likely to use voice for those and want to know the various ways I can. Of course, in typical fashion, the manual is all but worthless…

I would also love to see the list of expanded Intelligent Personal Assistant skills.

From a recent press release:

BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant with new skills.

BMW Operating System 8 also sees the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant gain new skills. Instructions in natural speech can now be used to adjust the climate control or open or close a side window or the sunroof. Functions of the driver assistance systems in the new BMW 3 Series can also be controlled by voice command.

auto brake drying feature gone?

Name: bmw_brakes.JPG

I could've swore about two decades ago the e46s and the like had an automatic brake drying feature. That based on the rain sensor while driving - it would pulsate against the rotors to keep them dry.

I don't remember the three-letter-acronym for it. Driving me nuts trying to remember. Anyone else remember this?

I also miss the early days of BMW's website, where they had a technology glossary - and every single one of their features was listed out and what they did (e.g. DSC III, Dynamic Cornering, etc)

I would certainly appreciate that. They have a million different little technologies and I never know what they DO or how they interact.
