I really liked his conclusion about the iX design (starts at 26:00). Spot on, imo.

i saw this color combo in stockholm airport, car looked very good in person, way better than in pics. I never seen it in real life till then, and was glad to be impressed by it. Looks almost like a top end watch with ceramic bezel, shiny crystal, glossy dial, etc.

Yep, well said.

The iX is an amazing achievement for BMW and bodes very well for them moving forward.

I personally love BMWs new design language. Such a welcome departure from, the majority of, the F-series designs.

Great review!

I agree with the comments in the beginning relating to the looks, pictures vs real life, and I’ve also during my first 3 weeks with the car had similar experience when it comes to attention as this guy reviewing the car. It is of course a new model, and many people see it for the first time which naturally creates attention. But it is quite amazing that already around 10 strangers have come talk to me when I’ve parked my car and asked about it. You see also quite often people turning around when I’ve driven past them. Not sure though if they like or dislike the looks when they turn around. But it seems to really catch people’s attention and I believe it is not only because it is a new model.

for me still though I need that super charging network to be a little bit more accessible. Tesla chargers are everywhere, literally. The DC chargers around me (Im in Santa Barbara now) are there, but usually its like 2 stalls and they are only 50kw speed I believe which means I would need about 30-40 min to get a decent charge where the tesla ones are 250KW and I can get a 100 mile charge usually in 10-15 min. Now I am not sure how the DC chargers are everywhere else in CA especially if I want to drive to LA and back but from what I see the DC stations are also usually only 2-4 stalls which means they are most likely going to be taken all the time. When I take a tesla on travel most the stations are 10+ chargers and have never had an issue.

so for me it makes me a little worried to get one if I plan on commuting and or traveling unless I mapped out the DC chargers. Especially in my area. I guess I would only be able to charge it at home and for longer trips really map it out. But again I could not be informed since I have not real world test the non Tesla ones. I have with Tesla a bunch of times.
