i4 M50 Le Mans Blue Delivered! First Impressions

Last week I took delivery of one of the first Le Mans Blue Individual i4 M50's to US market. Here's my experience thus far.

Overall, really amazing and interesting experience. Let me start from the delivery experience. Car arrived to port of NY/NJ and offloaded on May 22 (Toledo) along with 600+ other East Coast US BMWs. Amazingly, it was on a truck to my local dealer the very next day. No issues in transit and all options were received as expected.

After a few pictures, the car was moved to the showroom for a few days of viewing. The process took almost 3 hours as this was the first i4 delivery at the dealership. The finance manager came down to see the car, several salespeople, other customers. We all had a great chat about the future of EVs and how simply amazing this car looks. Tons of energy and genuine excitement.

On to the first drive. Confession time. Before I left the lot, I had never driven nor even ridden in an electric vehicle. So, I was a bit nervous how the car would feel. Preciously 3.3 seconds later, I had my answer. WOW. Just WOW. The rocket ship toque, the handling, the stability. They nailed it. Here's my assessment...

Positives...absolute beast with torque. Like, you have to alert your passengers you about to hammer it. HK sound is amazing. Seats and dash are high quality. iDrive 8 is amazing, clean, polished, efficient. Trunk is exceptionally large. Unless you are a racecar driver, handling is superb. Really quiet - low road noise.

Negatives...back seat is tight. No question. Front grill (well?). iDrive8 with Spotify had a hiccup once. Not feeling the Hans Zimmmer, but my son likes it.

Congratulations!! It is beautiful. First Le Mans blue in the USA...so cool. When I took delivery of my M50, it caused (and still causes) major attention, pics and videos everywhere.

Enjoy your new ride, and drive it in good health. Portimao Blue is very similar to your Le Mans. Le Mans is a tad lighter, maybe? Blue looks amazing on the i4.

First, congrats. But, second, WTF???! How did you get an individual i4M50 while most of us who pre-ordered last June haven't even gotten a VIN yet?!

I had tried and wafered on going with individual long beach blue. I decided against it with it being a first generation, I wasn't sure I would keep it long enough to make up for the additional paint costs, but honestly I'm kicking myself now.

100% thinking the same thing! When I got my Portimao Blue in April of this year, it was about the only one. How did an Individual make it so quickly! This might go to show that i4 orders are all over the place!!

When thinking to place an order on X3 my dealer said to me that if I put individual color it might push the order. So I guess this might be the reason of getting his i4 before others. Anyway gorgeous car and color!
