Only a German would think that 124 mph is "not that much." And he's right. I remember Frankfurt to Cologne, on a good day, in under 2 hours. Way under. Europeans think 100 miles is a long way, Americans think 100 years is a long time.

"More of an MPV than an SUV". It feels like driving a minivan when you are inside of it, so thats accurate.

Camera work on the exterior shots is absurdly bad. They use 0.5x on their iPhone for this? Fisheye lens? Head mounted GoPro maybe? Lord help me

I wonder how do they think to replace ICE cars with this?! Who would pay this over X6 M50i?

As an X5 m50I owner, I think its a great vehicle but it definitely has its quirks. Find the way the engine/vehicle lunges forward as great when getting on highways and pushing the vehicle but awful when stuck in stop and go traffic. Vehicle never feels completely settled on roads that aren’t completely smooth. I get about 13 mpg. Also so so so much brake dust. Model Y Performance. Took ownership in February. Interior is what it is. One pedal driving is awesome. Love it. Also basically no brake dust because I’m not using the actual brakes that much. But the suspension is just harsh for this vehicle. Turning radius also doesn’t seem great for a vehicle of this size. No heads up display or blind spot assist sensors on mirrors that seem to small is another issue. Vehicle isn’t as quiet as I had expected especially compared to x5 m50i. For a vehicle that is labeled “performance,” it doesn’t seem to love being pushed at 90mph. X5 m50 at 90mph feels like 70mph. IX50 / IX m60 seems to be a great marriage of the two vehicles. Suspension being air suspension is better than both based on the test drive i had. Also seemed even quieter than the X5’s interior. Love that it also has rear axle steering like the x5 m50i w/ the dynamic handling package. Has the ambient lighting and cool panoramic roof that are gimmicky but impressive nonetheless. Heads up display and instrument cluster is great. Interior is minimalist which I like. This is going to be a great commuter car and perfect car for the weekends with the family. So who is it for? People who like EV’s. People who want something with a nicer interior than Tesla’s. People who find the starting price of the Model X as just exorbitant even if they can afford it. Its not the prettiest thing but I find it unique enough. I initially didn’t like the look of the original X7 or latest M3/M4 and I’ve come to really like those designs. I think the IX looks better in person. I think it looks better the EQS and EQE. The Taycan looks better but doesn’t seem as family friendly as it claims to be (rear seating is tiny and hard to get in and out of, actually same with the front seat placement compared to B pillar) and for how I would configure it, I’m spending $45-$50k more than the IX for less functionality. Maybe the Rivian R1S will ultimately be the better EV SUV and I have a preorder for that as well but I also think that’s very much a beta product that will have growing pains for owners (particularly the service side of things). |

Re others in this thread, to Hugo’s point re forum in general, why come in here to say you don’t like this vehicle? I haven’t liked the x6 since 09 but this is the first time I’ve ever said that publicly. Why? BECAUSE NO ONE CARES!!!!lol I’m getting more bar of soap, minivan vibes from the EQS but that’s just me I guess Last edited by ppagiga; 07-12-2022 at 05:00 AM.. |

If you've got ~$100K to spend on an EV, the iX has most of the competition beat on the combination of luxury, performance, comfort and space.
At this price point you are cross shopping- Lucid Air, Tesla Model S or X, Mercedes EQS, Porsche Taycan .. each of which may be better in some ways but not all 4. |

def stands out on the road, the tech is great, the speed is great, but just wish the price was a little lower but you do get a lot and they seem to have insane demand on our end so I guess its a win as of now.

I very much dislike SUV's, SAV's, X-overs, etc. But spending time in and driving several of the new BMW electric rides easily forces the conclusion that they are fantastic in every way (allowing for debate about the exterior style). "Brilliant" is the exact word for performance. Returning to drive most of the best ICE cars feels like a downgrade. |

I'm really looking forward to the first true EV sport cars, whether it's the new 718, the new Tesla roadster or something from BMW. |

The reviewer talks about the iX50 vs the M60 and says the 50 is the way to go. I agree with the point that the 50 is powerful enough and probably the way to go for most. On the flip side, if you plan to option up the 50 to the max then the gap narrows on both range and cost, makes the M60 more attractive.

I have driven EV's. It's "fun" at first. Step back into a proper drivers car and it's the SOUND and smells I enjoy…it's such a big part of the experience. I think I'm a dinosaur but one with long enough arms to shift gears still which is everything to me. That's what puts a smile on my face not the speed so much.
To be fair, if I had already converted to driving a quiet automatic I can see the upside in not dealing with ICE and the associated maintenance. I'll someday own an EV I'm sure. It's just not there yet for me despite all the excitement of "change". Maybe a ground up sedan from BMW will change my mind. I love reading the differing opinions.

Time will tell. There seems to be alot of these in stock at US dealers which is leads me to believe that they are not selling well. It may be a great car but to the traditional BMW 5 X5 6 and 7 series etc customers its a very different car.

A lot of iX? Seem to be difficult to find. My local dealerships have four between then but they're demo cars they won't sell.
I've watched their stock almost daily and seen dozens go through but they're all pre-sold when I call about them. I've spent awhile looking through Day Laborer's spreadsheets and picked half a dozen but they're all either sold by the time we get an inquiry or dealer is asking $10-20k over MSRP (and they seem to be selling anyway). |

Same here. One demo between two dealerships and everything incoming is pre-sold (MSRP). And a half-dozen more orders according to my dealer.

You do realize there’s a stop sale in effect, and that dealerships cannot legally deliver the iX models to their buyers until July 28… my money says almost all of them appearing as stock are not available
