Question Awaiting carrier assignment...for several weeks

Anyone else in the same boat or, that is, still not on one? My 2023 iX has been awaiting carrier assignment since July 20th. Any guess what's going on?

I’ve been waiting since 7/3. Next week 2 boats leaving and 2 more the following week. Hopefully our vehicles will be on the Atlantic soon

You'd think with how few vehicles are being cranked out they'd move quickly at the port. Then again I hear there are labor issues.

That's almost a month old though, and it was a 48 hour strike. Do we know if it's still going on?

These shipping delays: are East and west coast deliveries being equally affected?

I don't know if carrier assignment is related to port delays, since it is two steps before port.

My car was built July 23 and I'm not exactly sure when it got to port but it has been there at least a few days. There are three vessels leaving for Galveston next week so I'm not expecting any movement before that. If it's not on one of those it will be a few weeks before another ship comes that is destined for Galveston.

As far as getting from factory to port, just seems random.

Completely random, as my M60 was completed a day before your iX, and is still awaiting carrier assignment at the factory. Also coming to TX, getting worried it won't arrive before my 60 day APR lock runs out (9/19). May walk unless I can get a matched, or lower rate than I have right now. BMW needs to work on logistics, vehicles done at the same time should be at port at the same time.

Might also be possible that the tracker is not 100% reliable and up to date. I think some have reported being on a ship and the "my garage" says it's still awaiting carrier. Like someone didn't scan the car at a step or something.

I did check with my SA yesterday, and he said MyGarage is accurate. I assume the system they use would be correct, but maybe I need to contact the genius line…

MyGarage is absolutely not 100% accurate. My iXM60 was in 'Quality Check' for 2.5 weeks, then 'Awaiting Carrier Assignment' for 1 week, then 'At Port'. This whole time, my dealer and BMW Genius all indicated the vehicle was definitively at port Bremerhaven since 7/3/22. My Garage didn't update to 'At Port' until 7/21/22!

My SA confirmed on his end that it is still sitting at the factory awaiting carrier assignment. Would the BMw genius line have any other info from what my SA has?

Well, there hasn't been a ship headed for Texas since July 9. But there's one loading now and another waiting to load just offshore.

Mine hasn't moved either. Sitting at the factory since completion on 7/22. Also coming to TX.
Edit to add: Just got off the phone with the Genius line, the tracker in MyGarage is 100% correct, mine is just sitting at the factory awaiting transport. He verified no open recalls and wasn't sure why it would be sitting that long at the factory other than logistics issues.

Mine is listed as "In transit" on the tracker, where it has been since 27 July. Hopefully the detailer will finish it this Thursday, when I can pick it up.

I'm not entirely sure that the Genius line is the most correct source of information now either. I called this afternoon to inquire, and was told that the vehicle is at port awaiting carrier assignment. For S's & G's I logged into MyGarage, and don't ya know it ... 'In Transit' .... so this means its on a boat. Being that the only RoRo boat destined for NJ from Bremerhaven that left so far this week (or the last 10 days for that matter) is the Morning Lena, I'm fairly certain my iX is on it (fingers crossed, for an 8/22/22 NJ port arrival).

I have a message out to my sales advisor to confirm boat assignment and in-transit status. Will report back when I know for certain.

sor when are you expecting "My Garage" to have an update for the Texas bound cars? Curious about the boat loading on the 9th and the other you were talking about.

The boat leaving on the 9th has been updated to leave on the 11th. Still at port. It also landed a day late than the previous schedule said.

Never know if/when the garage will update the info, but guessing it would be by the end of the week if you're on the boat.

MyGarage, my SA, and the BMW Genius line all have my M60 awaiting carrier assignment. So it seems like all the info I have been given is accurate. Just strange how they manage logistics, vehicles completed after mine are at port and mine is sitting at the factory (all coming to TX). No open recalls or any other open campaigns on it. Seems like they operate on a last in, first out model, which is poor planning on BMWs part.

I'm at the point where I think its best to stop guessing about how they operate, as each time I think I've got it figured out ... I'm wrong
