Aluminum Rhombicle Anthracite Trim

Anyone come across any good pics of Aluminum Rhombicle Anthracite trim next to Black Leather w/ Blue Stitching?

If I get an M50 I'm getting carbon fiber, but a dealer can get me an eDrive40 allocation much sooner and I'm considering it. Can't get CF on eDrive40 though.

Aluminum Rhombicle scratches easily, and can't be fixed. All others can be polished and buffed. I know this from experience. I have a thread somewhere in the X3forum about it.

Thanks. I assume that would happen with Aluminum Mesh as well, right?

In regards to scratches...you can get expel film for interior surfaces...when I saw that I initially thought that was a little obsessive, but after reading about this aluminum scratching easy....makes sense, and is easy to do your self.

Dang. Didn't know it scratches easily as that's what I have. Probably should've just opted for the CF trim. Anyway, here's a close of pic of it on my car

Here is my thread:

Eyesore, I actually bought the trim piece, but haven't had time to rip the door apart and replace it. Not an easy task at all.

On the i4 the trim is not on the doors. It is just on the dash and center console. I have it. But I still would have preferred open pore wood or carbon fiber.

Does carbon fiber scratch easily also? Still working on configuration and this thread may help.

Sorry this happened to you and not to dismiss your experience and your complaint which is very valid, but I would caution against over-generalization.

I had 2 BMW's with this trim and I find it more resilient than other trims like the open pore finish. In my experience I find that it does not scratch easily, it doesn't show prints and it is easy to maintain.

No not really, and light surface scratches could easily be buffed out. CF trim and a contrasting (non-black) interior really makes the car IMO, I think there might be more CF than in my (F80) M3 and M8 combined.

Just get the trim that you think looks the best and then as WER2XU suggested apply XPEL film over it. Even with Carbon Fiber, I'm sure the clear coat will get lightly scratched up. It can be buffed, but I'd rather apply the XPEL film over and not have to deal with buffing and also get the added benefit of finger print resistance. Come to think of it. I wonder what Stealth XPEL would look like over the interior trim.

How would one apply the film DIY or will have to go to a shop?

I would think it would be no more difficult that applying it to the trim vs the exterior.

If you ever installed.wondow tint of PPF on the exterior you should be fine.

I hadn't thought about it but I think I'll be wrapping my CF trim in gloss 3M film.

I'm more worry about someone taking out the trims or spray water to install. I may just leave it the way it is. This trim came with Msport pkg for E40 can't get any other trim I would have preferred wood.

I wouldn't expect them to take them out since there wouldn't be a need.

Might need a little water but not enough to worry.

Let me go find out from the shop how much. I’m planning to PPF front bumper but they don’t do interior.
