The ICE cars have the benefit of 100yrs of learning and refinement. The iX is effectively BMW's first generation EV. It's going to take time to come up the learning curve. Better to find/fix these issues at the factory than in the field, or when you're driving on a snowy road at night.

I’d say it’s based on the production date of your car as listed in the vin. Eg, the day final assembly happened.

All true, and I own an iX 50. However, this is, by my count, the fifth significant hardware/software recall/stop sale since these cars were on offer in the US from last Spring, and there were more in Europe. Not counting the battery recall. I think potential purchasers realize they are cutting-edge pioneers, but the company bears some responsibility for due diligence and QC - which, to be fair, is likely what caught this issue. Added to the abysmally slow delivery process (much beyond BMW's control), multiple software bugs and failures, no US tax incentives and the very high "luxury" price of these vehicles, this is less than a good look for BMW. My suggestion(s) for BMW: go back, right now, and check your supply chain and parts vendors for everything you haven't found yet. Twice. Check your production process - you only have one plant, so.... Hire some new/competent software engineers. Debug the current software - you did know these cars run on software, right? Now. Fix and start pushing OTA updates. Now. And for that little extra, that you're charging for anyway, send out apology letters to current and pending owners. Not your fault, maybe, but you are sorry it happened, right? And you do know who they are, right? If you plan on selling EVs in the marketplace and with competition not on your doorstep but in the door within a year. If you plan on being in the EV business in the future, which I'm still not convinced you are, with the increasingly apparent Keystone Kops look in your production and sales process.

Not really, it's the fifth generation I think, and they have significant experience with the i3 which was in production for 8.5 years.

I started production on 10/20, but then it sat in this code for a while and then assembly started on 11/10...so I wonder if mine will be impacted by this. I texted my SA this morning.....Just have to wait to see what he says...

I don't think some are alarmed because there are issues. Those are expected. I think it's because of the number of issues that caused deliveries to be halted. I count a total of 10 recalls for all Tesla vehicles ever produced, and Tesla makes a sh*t car. How many have we already had on the iX in its first year?

Well that answers my question! In less than a year BMW has already had half the number of recalls Tesla has had in 10 years. Wow.

I hear there are a bunch of them who need work right now, but Jaguar Land Rover is hiring them all in a new initiative.

I've got a Canadian spec M60 arriving soon with production date 28 October 2022

There is this message "Active Stop Selling Campaign on the VIN" in the system, but my sales said it will be fixed with a software update during PDI. I really hope so.

Did you run the VIN yourself/or your SA.....or was this from the BMW website. I tried the BMW website on recalls, etc....and I keep on getting an error message.

Fantastic.... is there any way that we can find out of our cars are affected on our own? Just accepted delivery from out of state, and haven't engaged the local dealer yet. And - do we have any indication on the resolution? Is this a software flash, or will it require a hardware fix?

EDIT: FWIW, I checked my VIN on the BMW recall site, and it showed nothing open.

Went to visit my dealership today (to get appraisal for trade in). Car arrives 12/17 to port. SA shared that there were no holds on my IX, thankfully.

hugo_nz , any update on this? It appears my M60 is affected by this, and is stuck at vehicle delivery center in Baltimore. My BMW salesperson says no resolution has been yet identified. TIA
