Lowered my iX with GhostLinks from Ghost Motorsports (pics & video inside)
![]() Featured on BIMMERPOST.com A few weeks back I had Ghost Motorsports install a set of their GhostLinks lowering links on my iX. The GhostLinks perform the same function as other lowering links, but they're seemingly easier to adjust, and because they're black plastic they look more like the factory links, so less obvious to BMW techs. For those not familiar with lowering links, basically they're adjustable versions of the car's linkage attached to the suspension height sensors that, when lengthened or shortened, trick the car into thinking it's higher than it is, so as to lower it. I only wanted to go about 1" lower than the stock ride height in normal mode, and that's what they're set to. The photos below show the car in "sport" mode, which is roughly .5" lower than normal mode. Pretty subtle. The car also has 15mm wheel spacers at all four corners, obviously with the factory 22" wheels. I think both of these mods, while pretty subtle, do make a big difference in improvement of the look/stance. I'll do a proper writeup of the spacers and other mods along with daytime photos of a clean iX when I get a chance - been pretty rainy in LA lately... Video (taken by Danny @ Ghost Motorsports as I was parking the car): https://youtube.com/shorts/SSkCQbQ1DBE All black iX looks pretty badass when rolling at night! Danny also put up a little video on their YouTube channel talking about the iX and the suspension height sensor locations etc. You can almost hear him over the music. ![]() Get some GhostLinks for your iX here: https://www.ghostmotorsports.com/pro...stlinks-bmw-ix Brian |

Looks great lowered here. Also further proof that hiding this car’s design elements and lines with color is crucial.

And as with every BMW, it looks better slammed on its nose. Well done!

15 min? No alignment? No corner weighting?
It’s awesome to be able to control the suspension height like that, but a very small difference in link length will translate to a big difference at the wheel. No way would I trust that job without an alignment and corner weight. |

Same reason we lower any other vehicle.

Good question to ask on the X forums too. But as BMW enthusiasts and what we’ve seen people do to their cars, why bother asking?
I may have considered something like this 15 years ago when I lowered my E60 and 10 years ago on my F12, but I actually do need every inch the ground clearance as I was happy to have it along with the front lift when I was powering through 8-12 inches of unplowed snow on the 15N in CA/NV/UT with my studless snow tires going 40-70mph. But not everyone does that so…to each their own. Let’s not hate on each others’ styles. I know my purple wheels are also of questionable taste. 🤐 Functionally, the wheel well of the iX isn’t very roomy. For those of us running wider sizes like 285 wide, I’m already rubbing on hard bumps with a 25 offset on stock height. Lowering it like this will make tire options even narrower. |

That’s quite a bit of coin for a simple replacement of the sensor arm.
I’ve used the same trick to raise SUVs with air suspension.

Theyre really taxing on a part that requires little to no research and development. These parts should cost a maximum of $60. Especially since it wouldnt take much to build them yourself.
