Getting together Singapore style

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
They say common interest keeps everyone together. Those who plays(drink, eat, meet) stays together. No borders , all iX owners welcome. Small numbers no doubt, for now, hope more will reach out.
Here in Singapore i started a chatgroup and hopefully more meetups to share on our common interest, the iX and more.
Do share your GTG and meetups in your country here.

Cool photo! Do you know how many iXs are in Singapore/ I am sure there should be kind of official stats. I wonder that you people opt for iX but not for Chinese EVs like Zeekr, LiAuto etc

I started a FB group page for Singapore iX owners with my wife's help. I am not too good at FB and social media hence you wont find me there. However some iX owners found the group on FB. Through word of mouth from 2 to 4 to 6 members.....now we have 12. saw to new potential members living nearby, might just walk up to them and say hello.

And more impressively, in Singapore that's about $2M on the hoof!

I am curious why so many are hung up or worried about license plate numbers & pics!

We drive around IN our cars all day with license plates exposed, where anyone can see and take a pic if wanted!

Hi. Being the world's most expensive place to buy and own vehicles, there are many petrol heads[battery heads] who loves good products. No disrespect to BYD, Li Auto or any other ev manufacturers. Mercedes, BMW, Audi makes up almost 3 to 4 out of 10 cars/suvs sold here.

Just to share, Singaporeans ancestry predominantly came from China just over a 100 years ago. Malay and Indian ancestry make up the other 25%. Sorry if i go into history lessons, we look, from general appearances to the uninitiated like chinese but we are almost always bilingual fluent in English and Chinese and sometimes Malay language. Being truly Singaporean, we love any good international brands and products as we are exposed to the West and East cultures pretty evenly.

BYD is slowly picking up speed in sales over here, but mainly at the entry to mid levels. Li Auto and other chinese brands are presently unestablished. The Korean duo of Hyundai and KIA is doing as well as BYD....again at entry to mid levels.

To the question how many iX are there in small island Singapore, no official published numbers but from speaking to the 2 BMW official dealership(just 2 here in total), there should be about 100 to 150 in total to date. no more.

Some places allow for random people to lookup some info based on a license plate only.

The TLDR for the video is they were able to get Name, address, social security number from a plate. This was not doable with plates from certain states.

Totally agree, but why make it easier for criminals looking to steal one of these? It doesn't take much effort to lookup someone's registration details (at least in the US). With that being said, I share mine anyway:

Its incredible they can get such private information. Definitely wouldn't want some one surprising me with my private information shared online. Singapore is a kind of mild tightly controlled state where government knows almost everything about you and if they want to anything under the sky. The trade off is generally public safety is good. Serious crimes are rare but not taken for granted.

Nice. I would personalised a plate if it was allowed here but no such luck. Otherwise my plate would be I FLY

My hats off to anyone who can afford any type of vehicle in Singapore. Was just there in June and heard all about 80%, 100% and 120% permit auctions to drive the car after you pay for it.

What a young demographics! Crazy Rich Asians? No offense, I'm an Asian myself and have lived in Singapore for 4 years.

The range of the ix seems to be rather useless in SG - unless you take it on a road trip to Malaysia, and if you do please do share a trip report!

Stereotyping is a dangerous thing my friend. The movie Crazy Rich Asians did exactly that. None of us live that way nor want to live that way. Believe you me.
If we speak in American terms that perhaps you might understand better, We work our asses off. Similarly how many that owns Bugattis and Ferrarris have gone on a track? Wasteful you say? You get my point. So even in our Garden state we enjoy our rides, our way.
Yes, some have gone up north to Malaysia, and hopefully later this year we have a convoy of EVs on a long road trip. Just like what you probably understand "just for the hell of it".
Yeah hell yeah dude, will share some photos of the convoy when that happens.
Photo shoot is for friendship a means of keeping memories of what common thing we have. A love for our EV ie iX and any good rides with no loud exhaust and emission.
So where's your photos pal? Would love to see garhering photos anywhere in the world.

I was in Singapore in 2018, what surprised me that you feel tempo upon arrival, everybody seems to be rushing up to make money)
Cost of living is very high and you have to move to meet it. And a nice car is a good and deserved reward whatever someone thinks

The thing is especially men love their cars( ladies too), its the punitive taxation on private vehicles that kill joy for many to aspire to even own a basic car. Its a sore point for many here. But life goes on.

You might see us "rushing" not necessarily to make money. Just like not everyone's rushing not me at least. Just like not every Russian drinks Vodka, nor American drinks Jack Daniels, not everyone here is rushing to make money. Thats stereotyping my friend. We do work hard ,say hello to people around us and yes smell the roses. So just like everyone else we are not all the same even in the same country.

Yes for some of the hardworking, lucky amd determined people we do get rewarded with good friends, and maybe get oir hands on a car like an entry level iX xdrive 40.

As someone who visits Singapore on a semi-regular basis, I get a heart attack everything I see the price of any cars there.

We Americans love to complaint but we probably have some of the cheapest access to cars in the world. The price of ownership(registration, insurance, taxes, gas etc.) makes something like a RAV4 a luxury car.
It starts at the equivalent of over USD$200k without all the other fees.

The evening was young, we decided to adjourn to an open air carpark albeit with dim lighting. What a stealthy silhouette of a fleet of iX parked together , ready to Power On. Till the next meeting my comrades.
