My iX loves the heat

We have been having quite the heat spell the past two or three days, 100 to 109°. I know batteries do not like extreme hot or cold, but it seems the iX greatly prefers hot over cold!

I was thinking this just the other day. I’ve been very impressed with the range so far, even with the Florida heat, and I definitely don’t “go easy” with my driving style.

Maybe it’s the way I drive because it’s hot AF in Texas!

Insane right? When I need to charge, but I know I will most likely not be driving for 2+ days, I just charge with Level 1. Even if it stays plugged in, I never have to worry about it getting too full

When I know I am going to drive, especially kind of far, I Level 2 to 100%.

My last long drive a few days ago was about 200 miles. I charged to 100% and I think my estimated range was right under 400 miles.

When I got home after about 200 miles, my battery was at 48% and showed 205 or 203 miles. Not bad at all!!! The iX is very impressive!

Certainly testimony from owners driving both in very cold and hot places, the iX can certainly get more range in the hot with AC full blast compared to continuous heating in bitter winters. I wish that cars sold in hot countries year round like ours here, a dedicated Air-conditioning compressor might generate better efficiencies than having a heat pump( which do both duties for hot and cold air). Probably a dedicated aircon,AC system would be cheaper to repair or replaced.
Strangely there were a few times on climate setting AUTO, the passenger seat heater was came on. Thats absolutely crazy considering outside temperature was 30c/86f and cabin temperature set at 22c/72f. Certainly kept the passenger bum warm and toasty when we dont need it.

The same thing happened to me about a week ago. I wasn't fully charged when I left, but when i got home after a 80 mile trip I was at 50% state of charge and the car was showing a remaining range of 203 miles at 50% SOC.

Consumer reports did some range testing in cold/normal/hot weathers and hot weather seems to give best range.

The difference in hardware is insignificant between a heat pump and a a/c only. A heat pump is an A/C that can be run "backwards" to scavenge heat instead of shedding it.

As for the heated seat turning on, it's not crazy if that's what you set the system to do. If you have set the passenger seat heater to the highest setting in auto mode(or to a high enough setting to trigger the logic to turn it on), the car is just doing what it thinks you want.

Just did an about 80mi trip in South Florida. It was 33c outside but the UV index was high. Got 3.5mi/kwh. Even saw 3.6 at times.

???? I drove 1050km and had 1h15 charging in total (of which I could have omitted 10 minutes as I arrived with 25%)
So 4.5 h for 1500km? Slow chargers?
