Car stuck at Port in Germany for Open Technical Code and Logistic issues at porton

Hello everyone new to the forum. Ordered an edrive 40 with M package back in June. Car has gone through the process and got to the port on 31 July and has been sitting. Did some digging and found an open technical enhancement code (#0061820700). Sent a note to my CA last to get some confirmation and the solution and was told this morning ‘I looked into it and found that it is affecting almost all of the electric cars. It is the programming control unit. It appears to translate codes. Thus far BMW has not issued a remedy but once it does it will be completed before shipping out.’
Hope this helps if your car is stuck at the port in Germany.

They have been updating the cars at the VPC. Should not dealy your car more than a day or so.

New update from BMW Conceirge: ‘Unfortunately, we've been advised that due to circumstances in the global logistics operations at the port, that are outside BMW’s control, there are shipping delays. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this is causing, but we’re hopeful that the situation continues to improve.’

Anyone else have this issue lately?

There isn't anything one can do - unfortunately. When cars are not loaded on a ship at a planned time, some other car will most likely take your spot. Then your car has to wait for the next ship with the same itinerary. Logistics are complex but your car will eventually arrive.

Has this issue updated for you? Mine arrived at the port in late August and has this same code (0061820700) as well as another (0065220400) and I'm curious if you've seen any movement on it.

Has this been your ongoing experience? Mine seems to have been delayed at VPC nearly six weeks now for this issue...

Modern vehicle tracking is a double edge sword…even before COVID there were strange delays. While it’s cool in many ways to follow your car’s progress it can be maddening when things like this pop up. Can’t imagine what a 2 month delay must feel like…hang in there.

My i4 stayed at the port for 30ish days and when it arrived in Galveston they did the software update and I picked up my car 3 days later. Hope you get it soon. It drove me crazy tracking it each day. Hope your i4 is on a ship soon.

Thanks so much. The day after I posted this, the software issues were closed out. It's already at the VPC in America (Brunswick) so now it has been released for shipping and I'm hopeful it will be on a truck and at the dealer in the next few days!
