It's fun to see a Tesla fanboy lust for a real car.

The German iX will stop at traffic lights, and also notify you when the vehicle in front of you drives off? (6:24)

Sucks we don't get those features in the U.S.

How as he able to charge at a Tesla Supercharger? And he did not need an adaptor. In the US as far as I know, a BMW cannot charge at a Tesla Supercharger.

they will become available later. Usually Germany get it's first or earlier. Same is true for Drive Pilot from MB.

Tesla started opening up the Supercharger network to other automakers in Europe a few years ago. And Europe is already standardized on the CCS 2 connector for all automakers.

See I think this is only partially true, in that it varies by country and by station.

In Portugal I was struggling to keep a rental EV charged up, and the big, reliable, conveniently located Tesla Supercharger station on my route was prominently marked "TESLA ONLY" in apps I checked. This was only 3 weeks ago.

Example - https://www.plugshare.com/location/164703

Yes, EU dictated the standard a while ago.

Tesla is still only piloting it, so it is not every supercharger. But they have been doing it for several years.

The CCS2 port is 100% standardized including with the SC network. That doesn't mean the network will allow everyone to charge in that location. That's the distinction. It would be like EA coming out and saying that they would not allow Ford to charge at their locations even though technically they could. It's a business decision at that point.

FWIW - while in Portugal this past summer, I kept running into CCS2 Charging locations without ever looking for one. The exception was in location in the south that seemed to be a desert of HPC. I even found them at most all gas stations along the highways. The problem I had was that I was in a PHEV and couldn't make use of the HPC and L2 chargers weren't always available at my destinations.

Yes while there are CCS2 charging all over Portugal, the reliability of them is a different issue. Lots of stories online of people having issues charging there. Lisbon to Algarve was a big challenge.

The chargers mostly are forced to use some domestic market payment app/system for regulatory reasons. So for example Ionity chargers you pay via a 3rd party app called Miio.

The chargers don't take credit cards, and require payment via membership RFID card or app.

A lot of the chargers had payment network connection issues so unless you have the RFID card from the payment network, you are out of luck as the app payment won't activate.

Spent an hour on phone with Ionity fro my US cell phone getting them to reboot stalls, manually activate charge, etc just to get myself out of a jam. A local Portuguese guy pulled in after me and I had to help him find one of the stalls they rebooted for me because the first one he tried didn't even work with his RFID card.

On the way back the next day at a different rest stop with a different charging network, I contemplated charging but then watched a guy in an Ioniq 5 plug/unplug his car every 5 times in 20 minutes, so I don't think situation was any better there.

I wouldn't call him a Tesla fanboy at all. Certainly not now. Considering he has a Plaid he could really give a crap about and has called his Rivian the best vehicle he's ever owned.

I like Kyle's videos but there is a very strong bias towards one brand that he includes referral links to in every video. He is also a BMW fan so there is that. And I have no issues with someone having a bias to a given brand as long as that bias is made clear.

The truth is that the cars come with those features included but they're just deactivated/activated based on location. I live in Norway, and when I drive to Germany, through Sweden and Denmark, I can see feature availability change on the fly as I cross to different countries, with Germany being the only country where all the features work.

Also, it's not like that the features become available in Germany first and then in other countries, not necessarily at least. There are several features in iDrive 8+ that have been available for years with iDrive 7 as well, but they still don't get activated. The activation/deactivation of features is related to regulations and to BMW having access to good data and to traffic indicators they can trust the vehicle will be able to reliably read during operation. When the regulations won't allow it, or the data they have access to or gather is not good enough for a certain feature to work as intended, they deactivate it, and as long that doesn't change, it remains off.

It's not about having eyes lol. If you ate using driver assist it would be nice if you could rely on the system to stop at traffic lights.
