(Total Noob but that will change with time. Love and appreciate you guys)

Both will work with an iX. The difference is speed. J1772 is the Level2 part of the CCS Combo equation and it's capable of speeds up to 19.2kW. It's what you would use at home or work and at the max rate that the iX supports 11kW. On a trip, you would typically only use this at a hotel overnight.

CCS adds two DC pins to give your iX charging speeds up to 195kW and this is what is sometimes call DC Fast Charging, or DCFC or even HPC. This is what you would use on a road trip if you need to charge on the way to your destination.

So in short, if you're in need of a quick charge you use CCS. If you have time on your hands or your car will be parked for a long time (home/work/hotel) then J1772.

There’s a 62kw charger 2 blocks from me at shell. Can 62kw give decent range in 30 min?

It will get you whatever 31 kWh represents in terms of range.
So about a 30% of your current full range.
If i use my current SOC and estimated range, that would give me about 78 miles of range. Would you consider that decent?

Something to think about since it’s two blocks from your home. At home on a level 2 charger, you can charge while you sleep and pay the rate your utility charges. For me that’s about $0.13 a kWh. Or about $6.50 to go from 30% to 80% SoC overnight while I sleep. Using that Shell charger you’re being charged what for that electricity? $0.35 a kWh or more? Around me Shell is closer to $0.50 per kWh. Let’s use $0.35 as an example, in 30 minutes you’ll get about 30kWh so you would go from about 30% to 60% for $10.50 and sit there for 30 minutes. What’s your time worth? If you were grabbing a meal or something then it might be worth it but you would still pay the premium for the energy. This is where having a level 2 charger at home can quickly pay off in time and money. When on a road trip you compromise and pay for the convenience of having a DCFC but in that situation I try and look for something that can deliver 150kW or more if I’m staying with the car but I would consider something in the 100kW +
if I was grabbing dinner and I was below 20% SoC to start with.

For a rough gauge, consider your car has about 100kWh of battery capacity and when you plug in it will have some capacity still there and you may want to reach 80% SoC (charging from 80 to 100% is slow and not recommended unless you need that range to get to the next charger). So for this example let’s say you were at 50% SoC meaning you wanted to take your battery from 50kWh of charge to 80% or roughly 80kWh of charge. That 60kW charger would deliver approximately 60kWh of charge in an hour or 30kWh in 30 minutes to get you to 80%. This example makes a few assumptions and this is only a rough example and things like battery temperature, cable rating, charger operational effectiveness, station utilization (shared power with another vehicle) can all contribute to how quickly you can charge.
