Bluetooth Finicky
Hi All,
I have a MY2024 iX and found the phone bluetooth to be finicky. It pairs perfectly fine. However, sometimes, when I receive or initiate a phone call, the iDrive will see that I'm on a call, but I cannot hear any audio and the caller cannot hear me. Yet, on other days, the bluetooth works perfectly fine. Some days it works perfectly, and on some days, I'm not able to hear them and they cannot hear me (despite the car showing I'm on the call). I have tried unpairing and re-pairing. I have tried rebooting the iDrive (both when the car is started and when the car is stopped, by holding the volume button). I have a Pixel 8 Pro. Has anyone run in this kind of issue? Any possible solutions? |

Try a diagnostic mode reboot of the iDrive as described here - https://bmwi.bimmerpost.com/forums/s...87&postcount=8. Sometimes it resolves issues that regular reboot doesn’t.

Unfortunately, the Diagnostics Reboot didn't work. Upon reboot, the bluetooth worked great. When I got into the car next (few hours later), I ran into the same problem (cannot hear or talk via Bluetooth).
Open to any other suggestions. |

If you had an iPhone I would make sure you didn't have Carplay running in the background. Does Android Auto work the same way? Make sure you don't have Android Auto/Carplay selected for your phone in your car's mobile settings.

Identical issue here in a '24 i4 using a Pixel 8, first experienced it after a car software update last winter, happens at random times since then. (And by "random" I mean most often for important or urgent calls :-) )

Have you tried another phone, such as an iPhone or a Pixel 9?
It may be there is a general issue between the Pixel 8 and the car, such as a software glitch. It may be your Pixel 8 has a specific issue. A flaky phone is unusual but remains a possibility. If the issue persists with other phones, then it would suggest it is a vehicle issue and you would need to book it into your dealer for rectification. |
