I phone 16 pro and digital key plus issues

I upgraded my iPhone 13 Pro to 16 pro, and digital key plus (shared from my wife, she is the primary) stop working, it looks like this on phone, I deleted and reinstalled it multiple times.
The car recognizes the key in Idrive under “keys” tab, but digital key doesn’t open the door or start the car.
Does anyone else has this problem after upgrading to 16 pro?

Mine transferred (15 Pro to 16 Pro) with no issues. I just did the digital key transfer with the new phone, and all was good.

I think poster is referring to transferring a shared key to another user. I have the exact same issue. Shared key no longer has lock/unlock buttons and is no longer recognized to lock/unlock the car (but is recognized when placed in the charging tray). Primary digital key works fine.

Where is the digital key transfer located? On the phone or in the car?

I am blanking and can’t remember. I think I started it from the app, but not sure. It was intuitive and easy. It took maybe 5 minutes.

Yeah, shared secondary CarKeys in iOS 18.0 and 18.1 betas are broken.

I had similar issues under similar circumstances. Find your way to the BMW ID app in the car. (Generally, the first one on the screen.) Settings. Driver recognition. Swipe to the right and make sure that your shared digital key has a check mark. Mine didn’t. When I checked it, locked the car, and returned, all seemed well.

Also, the digital key share command is on the phone. Wallet<Primary digital key<Touch the face icon atop the screen<Add people.

What is the MyBMW ID app in the car?

It’s actually BMW ID. Touch four squares to the right of the home button in iDrive. Should be the first app you see. See above for more precise directions.

This doesn’t make the shared digital key work. I’m not sure what you mean by swiping to the right. Opening the BMW ID widget and swiping right does nothing. The only check boxes when you go into manage BMW IDs are for primary user. This is about the BMW ID and not the digital key. The issue is that sharing a digital key with another user seems broken with the current iOS release as others have noted.

This IS for the shared key if you follow all the steps before swiping right. Repeating: Find your way to the BMW ID app in the car. (Generally, the first one on the screen.) Settings. Driver recognition. Swipe to the right and make sure that your shared digital key has a check mark. Mine didn’t. When I checked it, locked the car, and returned, all seemed well.

Negative. Does not work. The newly shared digital key does not even appear as an option to check in iDrive despite the phone being in the car. As mentioned above, shared digital keys appear broken in iOS 18.

Apple sucks! While I still await my new phone to arrive from Communist China, I now must wait to upgrade from the 15 for risk of being unable to share keys across our fleet with my wife.

iOS 18.0.1 was released last week, might be worth a try again with that. I am on 18.1 beta 5 so not in a position to test unfortunately.

I got the exact same issue; mine is a shared key from my wife and I have an iPhone 16 pro on iOS 18 latest public beta. Even reported this to apple via the feedback app but they said they cannot determined the issue.

I found a work around this annoying issue, it’s not perfect but let you still
Use your iPhone 16 as a car key:
Open the door with your bmw app, then sign in with your bmw id in I drive, THEN😡put your phone in charging tray, your key in wallet app will pop up, double click on side bottom on your phone, do Face ID on your phone and : yeahhh, you can now turn on the car and drive!
Pain in butt , but works!

If that’s the case use the FOB, saves hours each week until they fix the problem

I’m about to bring these 2 iPhones back to Apple and tell them to give me a refund …. Not worth the hassle

Yeah, I have not seen that much of practical upgrade from my previous iPhone 13 Pro, just more headaches.

I think it's an iOS 18 and BMW shared key provisioning issue - I don't think it's the iPhone 16. I have Apple HomeKey devices and they all work fine on my 16PM, and also the main CarKey works fine too.
