edrive40 or M50

looking at getting an i4 and in the uk second hand there is not a lot of difference between these vehicles

In fact some equivalent 40 models are more expensive than the M50 models

so if priced the same what would you get

i have seen some reviews that suggest the 40 model drives more like an ICE car and hence drives better than the M50

M50 without a shadow of a doubt. It's not even a comparison if they're the same price.

M50. It’s “cheaper” as it comes with more things standard. S has a higher resale value/residual.

They are also basically the same monthly new

I feel that handling is better on e40 since the balance is better.
That said, both of them are quite heavy.

if price is equal I would buy 50, I own a 40 because of range and price.

Put it this way, I test drove an e40 and ordered the M50 (without even driving it)

Drive both and decide, for many of us M50 has been a no brainer, but some people still prefer RWD over AWD. If you want dramatic off the line performance, get the M50, eDrive40 will be slow in comparison. If your goal is spirited driving, given their weight limitation, both models perform about the same on any given road.

If you want a good comparison, find an eDrive40 with M-Sport package and an M50 with 19" wheels, this would highlight the differences while keeping most other things the same.
