2026 iX Configurator Live!

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Good news for everyone who has been waiting, the configuration tool for the 2026 iX has finally been released on the BMWUSA website!

Here is the link: https://www.bmwusa.com/build-your-ow...tivity-vehicle

Unfortunately, there still has been no lease program released to dealers, so we still cannot say what this is going to cost on a lease, but I am hopeful that BMW may release that next month and will keep everyone posted.

As always, if anyone needs help placing a custom order, feel free to reach out to me at scott@insightautoconsulting.com

For fun, here is how I'd build mine (disappointed to see Tanzanite isn't an option for some reason): https://www.bmwusa.com/build-your-ow...mohwky/summary

Nice. Tanzanite is available in the summer. The tow hitch also isn’t shown, it’s SOP is April.

Sweet! It is a long way away, but I can begin dreaming my dream. (And to the point above, Tanzanite's absence is a big buzz kill.)

Parking assistance is now bundled with Executive package. Sneaky move.
But at least we'll see a lot of Executive packs in the dealer lots now.

Fully loaded iX M70 is now $122K. Quite a few non EV choices can be considered at this price range.

Not many non-EV choices in this price range have a 20% discount.

Also, at a glance, this looks like a net $5K price reduction from 2025 pricing. When I last spec'd an M70 they way it would buy it, it was around $122K. Now the same spec is $117K.

The M70 I specced with the expensive Matte Grey paint; Amido; DAPP and the Exec package was around $122K. Hardly different than my loaded ‘24

My desired spec is M70, Tanzanite (no cost, I think), 21" wheels, Chestnut, and DAPP & Executive for $117,550. (It's $119K with destination, but I did not look at that in my prior comparison.)

Trying to back into it, I think they lowered the price of leather by $1K and DAPP by $150, and not sure about Luxury/Executive.

In the configurator, the ranges are listed. Assuming these are EPA

xDrive 45: 279-312 miles
  • 279 miles for 22”
  • 290 miles for 23” (curious if this is a mistake considering the 60 and M70 are in sequential order by wheel size)
  • 297 miles for 21”
  • 312 miles for 20”

xDrive 60: 318-364! miles
  • 318 miles for 23”
  • 327 miles for 22”
  • 341 miles for 21”
  • 364 miles for 20”

M70: 283-303 miles
  • 283 miles for 23”
  • 285 miles for 22”
  • 303 miles for 21”

Thanks for pulling ranges from the configurator. I'm happy the 21"s on the 60 get close to the advertised number in the press release (340).

BMW is doing crazy deals for these i cars rn. I’m not necessarily in the market, but the lease numbers I keep seeing in the wild for the i4, i5, and iX cars are nuts!

The acceleration enabled by EV powertrain is exhilarating but it isn’t an exclusive domain of iX M70.

The question that many of us are asking: does one want to travel to Costco as an ultra fast, ultra quiet electric washer or X6M with Akrapovic exhaust?

M70, everyday.

Yours, maybe once.

And definitely not for a day long trip on the interstate.

Agree. I hate those cars with extra loud exhausts. Especially when I look over and it’s a beat up Civic.

That is the world's easiest decision: iX M70.

The problem with a car like an X6M is that it never calms down. The engine and transmission are always jumpy and lumpy. They are terrible daily drivers. By massive contrast, an iX M70 can drive smoother than a limo for daily stuff yet still blow the doors off a X6M.

By "blow the doors off," I mean that the iX is probably half-second quicker to 60 MPH - that's over 2 car lengths, or a slaughter.

As a former M4 and X5m owner, the decision isn't even close. M cars have a cool factor, but the reality is that they're not really great track cars, and they're extremely, terribly, infuriatingly uncomfortable to drive on city streets. But hey...close to 1 lateral g! For the zero times you're going to push the car that hard into a turn.

As a purpose-built vehicle, the iX checks all the boxes for what a luxury consumer would want while actually driving on city streets/highways: great straight-line acceleration, reasonable lateral acceleration, one of the quietest cabins ever made, legendary shock absorption, and what's been described as the highest fidelity factory sound system ever made.

And I'm with the other guys. I think loud exhaust systems are a nuisance, and I'll take it up a notch by saying that I'd like for there to be laws (that actually get enforced) that make them illegal. Enough is enough. We can have peaceful cityscapes again.

20-year-old me would shoot 45-year-old me in the head for saying these things, but here we are.

EV people tend to forget that there are very fast accelerating gas cars around. The main difference is that you can get a decently quick EV without it being a truly "sporty" vehicle, whereas in gas cars, the fast drivetrain is usually paired with other hardware to make the car perform in more than in a straight line which tend to come with a trade-off.

The real answer is of course that it depends on each person. There is no wrong answer. But calling EVs microwaves/washers/appliances mainly just because they don't make exhaust noises is dumb. This was perpetuated by lazy car reviewers/writers who didn't have the talent to properly describe differences between EVs. It was easier when they could complain about the engine noise, the vibrations, exhaust noise, the lazy/sporty shifts, etc. Acting as if all EVs are the same is ridiculous and anyone who test drives a bunch will obviously notice differences between them.

I have someone in the family that daily's his gt3 rs (except in winter). I've driven it, it is great fun, but not something I want in my daily driver. He wants that. The beauty is that for the moment, they make what he wants and what I want and we can each get what we like.

Many enthusiasts aren't willing to admit that the comfortable car is better for daily stuff. The real test is when you end up with both something comfortable and a sporty car and you see which one gets more miles put on it. It catches many people off guard that in the end they pick the calmer car for their Costco runs, groceries, etc. more often than they think. But some will take the sporty car each and every time, willing to sacrifice their passengers comfort and their own because they have more fun in it. To each their own.
