Dingolfing. Today, the model update of the all-electric BMW iX celebrated its start of production at the BMW Group plant in Dingolfing. The electric pioneer, which has been manufactured at the site since 2021 and has since been sold over 130,000 units worldwide, receives a comprehensive update in March 2025 - offering increased performance, range and sportiness.

BMW's longest-range electric model.

The new BMW iX impresses with up to 25% higher drive power, significantly improved efficiency and a range of up to 701 kilometers in the WLTP cycle (BMW iX xDrive60: WLTP combined (EnVKV): Energy consumption 21.9 kWh/100 km; CO2 emissions 0 g/km; CO2 class A). The BMW iX is thus the most long-range electric model in the BMW Group's portfolio and the company's most important all-electric new model in 2025 - before the "New Class" makes its debut at the end of the year.

The new BMW iX also presents a more dynamic design than ever before: The vehicle is now available with the M Sport package and M Sport Pro package for the first time, which enhance the sporty appearance both inside and out. New exterior colours such as Arctic Race Blue metallic, Dune Grey metallic, Carbon Black metallic, BMW Individual Frozen Deep Grey metallic, BMW Individual Frozen Pure Grey metallic, Tanzanite Blue metallic and Space Silver are also offered.

Pioneering the All-Electric Era in Dingolfing.

Plant Manager Christoph Schröder states: "The BMW iX is a special vehicle for us. Four years ago, at its launch, it paved the way for many future technologies here on-site. And: It marked the beginning of the all-electric vehicle era in our plant." Meanwhile, a total of four electric models - the BMW iX, the BMW i7, and the all-electric versions of the 5 Series sedan and Touring - are being produced at the Lower Bavarian site, along with five plug-in hybrids. The BMW iX plays a crucial role in the model program of the entire company in the segment of all-electric mid-size and upper-class SAVs.

CO2 EMISSIONS & CONSUMPTION.
BMW iX xDrive45: WLTP combined (EnVKV): Energy consumption 21.8 kWh/100km; CO2 emissions 0 g/km; CO2 class A.

BMW iX xDrive60: WLTP combined (EnVKV): Energy consumption 21.9 kWh/100km; CO2 emissions 0 g/km; CO2 class A.

BMW iX M70 xDrive: WLTP combined (EnVKV): Energy consumption 23.5 kWh/100km; CO2 emissions 0 g/km; CO2 class A.

I think it looks so much better than the previous version…amazing the difference.

I’m not in the market for an EV (I have an X7 and a couple of big trailers I haul toys around in ~5K km a year) but if I was this would be on the shortlist.

Night and day? The changes are pretty minimal. I don't think most could even tell the difference. The illuminated grill is probably the most notable change.

The black underbody that is different from the body color for all the pre-lci base models has been an eye sore since E series.

Really wish BMW stop with that.

I think it’d be decent-looking if they’d just get rid of the stupid kidney grille rather than calling extra attention to it with illumination.

I have an M60 which I love the look of despite/for its idiosyncrasies, but bloody hell the front of the M70 makes me want to trade for one! lol

100% agree, the single color rather than the stupid black everywhere is a much better look. I say that as a current iX owner that bought for the driving experience, but hates the look.

It’s why the “old” iX only looks decent in dark colors IMO

Agree I think it’s one of the weakest LCIs. Aside from the black grille the changes are absolutely minimal

Interesting pictures. In particular, what appears to be a M70 in frozen silver. Have I got that right? Certainly not in the list of available colours announced.

Does look silver. Could it be frozen pure grey?

I think you’re right. LCI not released in Australia yet so no configurator available.

If you do not option the new M-sport package the difference between LCI and original is really minimal : only different headlight and front grille styling, and previously black parts now in the car's color. If you have a black iX like i have you can config the new LCI nearly exactly similar to the current one : same wheels, same interior and seats, same everything

This is true. + Slight improvements to the battery/motor.

Ordered an xDrive60 and got my VIN a couple of days ago. Production date of 3/25. The xDrive50 picked up last year has been great so far but I got it off the lot and it didn't have everything I wanted. This one is pretty much loaded including B&W. I'll get an iX5 when they come out and that should set me for a few years, maybe. This is my 5th BMW in a little over 2 years, so my dealer is happy. They promised me first dibs on an 8 series if they update it to the neue klasse.
