For Sale: 01 E38 740iL Sport package

Fellow enthusiasts,

The time has come for me to part ways with my beloved E38, a car that has been cherished and meticulously cared for since its very beginning. I am its third owner, having purchased it from the second owner—a master technician at a renowned local Bimmer shop. This skilled individual not only serviced the car after its warranty expiration but also continued to care for it after acquiring it from the original owner.

In the nearly two years I've owned it, I’ve driven it fewer than 1,500 miles, yet I’ve invested over $5,000 to keep it in pristine condition (please refer to the link below for a comprehensive list of all the work that’s been done). My initial plan was to keep this gem for my better half, but, she opted out due to the car's size and lack of a backup camera or parking sensors. Instead, she chose an LS, and so the E38 must find a new home—this is, after all, my fifth Bimmer in the collection. And as the saying goes, “happy wife, happy life.”

My loss is your gain! They truly don’t make them like this anymore, and I ask you—what can $8,000 get you these days that compares? Enlighten me, fellow enthusiasts!

Thank you for letting me share this with you.

This is such a gorgeous example! New buyer will have quite the cared for E38!

Question for you, is the windshield washer pump a common failure on the E38? I have tried to use my windshield washer and nothing comes out but I also don't hear a whirring sound either so not sure if its no fluid in there or the pump has failed.

Good Luck with the sale!

$8000 sale price and you invested $5000 in it during the last 2 years and 3k miles you owned it? I’d say that unless you bought it for $3k or less, your investment of $5k has not done well. Let’s hope the next owner enjoys it.

It's called maintenance, not investment... wrong brand
