I just saw a post on The Facebook about the age at which children move out of their parent's house in European countries. I'm sharing the image of the map by country. I have no idea the source of the data or if it's legit. But, it got me thinking.

What age did you fellow off-topic forum members move out of your parent's house?

As for me, I moved out for good at 23 when I got married. I live away at college from age 18 on.

At 18 went away to college. At 20 my parents had moved and I lived with them for a year while still attending college. So I guess 21 for me.

Mostly 18 (ship was in dry dock) when I joined the Navy, then totally at 20 when I got married.

At 20 or 21 sold my Volvo C30 T5 back then used the money from that one to buy an apartment for 550 000 Swedish kr in US dollars i guess that would be 54 922$ renovated the whole apartment lived there for a couple of years then the market shifted reevaluated my apartment bought an m235i with the help of another loan for 5400$ on the apartment so i could finance the m235i then the marked just got better sold the apartment for 1,3 million Swedish kr i guess that would be 120000$ and the m235i for good money and bought a plot and built a house instead. And now the markets have pretty much crashed in Sweden but i have a house now and we live comfortably and we are not planning to sell it in the coming years so the shift matters not to much right now. My age now is 36 with two kids.

My mom died when I was 17. My girlfriend (who was living with us at the time) and I got an apartment when I turned 18. Worked for a large engineering/construction company and they paid my way through school. Worked for the same company as an engineering planner/scheduler until I retired in my early 60s. Also met my one and only wife at this company and we married at 20yo. Will be 50 years that we've been together this July.

Since there’s no legend on the chart, I would have guessed it was weather related without your explanation. There seems to be a loose correlation between latitude and age at which children move out. I mean there’s some PlayStation playing kids in the basement in Southern Europe.

I think this is the same for most of us. My last summer at home was after my first year of dental school. After that I never went back to my parents home.

18. By that time, dad and I were grating on each other. When I asked him

A long-time friend and I moved into a large apartment complex near the
university. He attended the university and I went to the community college.
At age 20 I was drafted into the US Army. Married my high school sweet
heart at age 22, then shipped off to Vietnam for 12 months 6 weeks later.

Dad and I got along quite well after that.

18, I was a problem kid in high school and pretty much got kicked out of the house.

My only option was to move into a house with four random dudes. Needless to say it was a rough few years. They were a bunch of drug dealers, trafficked stolen goods, just general scum bags but that's what you have to do to survive on minimum wage. I reckon I didn't meet another responsible person my age until I was 25.

18 and went on to play baseball in college. Moved back in for a few months in 2011 after my first divorce and needed a place to stay so I could find a new house. Exwife moved back home with her parents about 1.5hrs away and never saw her again.
