03/2025.47 OTA Update popped up today

Just got prompted a few minutes ago to download a 03/2025.47 OTA update on my phone.

Note I am in Canada and on idrive8.0 (2023 iX xdrive50).

Hopefully some bug fix is in there for the SYNC issue.

I'll update the post to add screenshots of the release notes that I have on the phone. Only one real update listed about the battery pre-conditioning icon.

EDIT: Here are the screenshots:

Please let us know if the "home address" auto-unlock-disable functions! That would be a great add.

Transferred the update to the car and started the update a few minutes ago. Will check this in about a half hour or so

The updated function only disables unlock at home. It will still lock but at "home" it will require grabbing the handle to unlock.

I would have been surprised to see that someone had convinced a bunch of BMW engineers that not locking the car at home was a good idea.

Update has completed now so going to take a look at the car real quick before diner.

I set the sync on my climate control and will see I'm a few hours if that sticks or not.

Looks like you're in the correct menu for the "exclude home" option based on the PDF with the photos. Do you have "Headunit High 5?" It says that is required for the function to work.

If correct, would likely explain why option is missing.

Thanks. I didn't really remember the connection between iDrive versions and the specific head unit.

I never installed the 11/2024 update due to all the reports of problems with the LV battery. I still have prompts on my phone and in the car to install it, which I ignore.

Is there a way to tell when the newer update becomes available to me?

No idea but since there are no other people posting about this update (other than people with newly delivered 2026 cars who are on some version of 03/2025) i think it is safe to say it hasn't been rolled out in the US yet. It may be only in Canada for now and perhaps even more narrowed down to only idrive8 cars. Until more people start getting notified of the update it is hard to tell for sure.

Pretty much the only changes 8.0 headunits get is the battery icon and improved unlocking through the app. Typical lol

Maybe the sync fix ..... How long should i wait before going back to the car to see if it sticks? It has been about 1:45 minutes so far since i set the sync and closed the car.

Is 2h enough? 3h?

Not in the U.S. yet at least for iDrive 8.5 as I just searched. Maybe once Canada becomes the 51st state we will get OTAs earlier like Canada does.
