Plant tour at the Zentrum in Spartanburg!

While it may be harder and more expensive to do a plant tour in Europe (if flying over from the US), we have one here!

I still run into fellow enthusiasts who don't realize all of the X model cars are made here in the US, at the Spartanburg plant! I had a chance to go and do the tour and thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience.

While I have watched the assembly videos, it's an entirely different thing to be in the middle of it all. Robot arms all over, assembly lines of cars going everywhere including multiple layers overhead!

If you ever get a chance, make sure to go and check it out! Plus, there is the BMW Car Club of America museum nearby, and the BMW M performance school too! (hint hint for coming content!)

The X1 and X2 are made in the Rosenburg plant in Germany.

I did the track drive experience about a decade ago when it was just $100!! It was a no brainer back then and it was a blast!! At $300 it’s not quite a no brainer the way it was. At $200 it would still be a no brainer. Did the factory tour also, but not all of it was available, because they were tooling up for a new model. The Performance Center is a hidden gem that surprisingly many enthusiasts are not aware of. The big hidden gem of BMW (now that ED is no more) is taking delivery of your custom ordered BMW at the Performance Center and getting a half day of professional driving instruction all for free!!!

With the exception of exports of U.S. built cars to Canada, BMW is the largest exporter of vehicles by volume from the United States globally. BMW exports 70% of their South Carolina production to all of their markets around the world.
