what database do yall recommend for bmws, i own a 2011 550i and ik theres all data and ive heard of chilton but im not sure if theres better or i should just get one of them and pay for thr 3 year service for alldata

Alldata (maybe) has some repair information on cars.
What types of problems are you looking to DIY-repair on your 550i?

For most common issues and regular maintenance, the information is available online and on these forums.

aside from wanting to know torque specs and maybe some wiring diagrams currently my transmission threw up a bunch of codes and put me into limp mode but it only locks me out of the gear selection after a couple of minutes of driving (before that it drives perfectly fine)

P17 1C(1/ 4) Stored
Internal Transmission Control Module
Watchdog initialization Error


U1190(2 / 4) Pending
Lost Communication With TCM via A- and FA-CAN

TCM Power Relay Sense Circuit Low

i honestly think it’s just a bad tcm relay

Getting ISTA+ set up onto a laptop would be the ideal solution. As well as all the diagnostic functions you'd also have access to TIS (Technical Information Services) procedures, wiring diagrams, torque specs, etc...

This forum is great for getting info if you reach out and ask. May not always be as fast of a response as you'd want/need, so, plan accordingly.
