New Navigation Software (Version 26)
BMW has released Version 26 of their Navigation Operating System CD, which is used to upgrade various navigation systems.
Quoted from a BMW statement, posted a little while ago on www.germancarfans.com: Enhanced presentation by the professional navigation system. Starting in September 2005, the 3 Series Coupé, 3 Series Convertible, 7 Series Saloon, the Z4, X3, and X5 equipped with the BMW Professional navigation system will feature improved graphics on the navigation map for even greater clarity and easier reading. The BMW 7 Series comes additionally with 3D presentation providing a bird’s view perspective. All of these models as well as former 3 and 5 Series models built as of September 2002 may be upgraded to this new standard by the BMW dealer within a few minutes simply by updating the car’s software to provide this enhanced presentation. Here are some pictures of how it has improved the display on the old cars (Mk-IV DVD based navigation systems) - the improvement is astounding. http://bimmer.roadfly.com/bmw/forums...7010474-1.html Has anyone here upgraded their cars yet? Did it improve the map display or does it not affect cars with iDrive? Does this update other aspects of iDrive.... MP3s? Paul Martin Australia PS: If anyone could make a CD image of the update file, that would be great too - I'd love to download it!! Last edited by nitramluap; 09-13-2005 at 02:52 AM.. |

Picked up my e90 last thursday 9/15.
My nav show's bird's eye perspective. Sort of different from what I'm used to but pretty cool looking. How can I check the version of the nav software? |

This update is definitely not for our e90's. It is for the MKIV version of Nav Pro found on the X5, e39 and e46.
As for finding out what version you have... you can use the following steps (with the key in, but the car not started): 1. Press down the knob for a few seconds (like 6 or 10), release. 2. Turn knob clock-wise 3 clicks 3. Turn knob anti-clockwise 3 clicks 4. Turn knob clock-wise 1 click 5. Turn knob anti-clockwise 1 click 6. Turn knob clock-wise 1 click 7. Press the knob down briefly (just as you would normally) You will get the secret menu. |

This didn't work for me. From the top-level menu, enter the settings menu and hold the 'menu' button for 15 seconds.
What upgrade version do we need for MP3 playback on pro nav systems? |
