Razor Phone Trouble
Anybody else have trouble getting their Razor phone to interface with their BMW? I have 2 Razor phones and can't get either to interface with my E90 330i or 530i. BMW says I may need to get a software update on the phone. Anybody else get it working?

i got the razor to work with my e90. i doubt the phone needs software since i have the first generation razor. It's pretty much the same concept as if you were connecting your phone to your bluetooth headset, just make sure the bluetooth on your car is turned on.

I'm having trouble getting the phone to connect to my 530i. When I use the iDrive for the phone it says "Activate Phone"
So far I went into the phone and chose the Bluetooth link -> setup -> Find me. In the iDrive under options it appeared to connect and there was a status bar that displayed that appeared to be transfering data from the phone to the car. However, when I choose phone in the car it still says "Activate Phone" Any help would be appreciated. Chris. |

You need to have the phone search for the car. After you make the car ready, go to your phone, get to the bluetooth link screen, select handsfree, then choose [Look for Devices] Hope this helps |

I'm having the same trouble. Bluetooth won't turn on. I called the dealer, and I'm taking the car in for a software update tomorrow morning. I'll update this post, and let you know if it works. For information on the software update, see post on this topic below.

HorsepowerFreak - Perhaps your dealership might not be savvy to the software upgrade. There's a good chance that it will solve the problem, since I had the exact same phone problem prior to the software upgrade. It paired up beautifully after the upgrade. If you wish, I can post the exact programming update that was listed on the repair order.

Here's what's on the work order:
Found Measure 84-213-05 for reprogramming car with CIP 16.1 or higher. Reprogrammed with CIP 18.01. There was also a note from the technician that the CIP 18.01 is related to a drivability recall. A second line on the work order that stated the following: Found recall 120905 OBD programming is due. Reprogrammed car per recall campaign with 18.01 and encoded complete car. Reinitialized sunroof and steering angle sensor. Hope that helps. |

Is there a way to see which CIP version is currently installed?
Car is an 06 325i Premium/Sport with an 9/05 build date. |

The first 2 times I brought my 330i and 530i in to "Kuni BMW" to have my cell phones set up (since they couldn't make it work when I bought it from them), they never called me back. When I called them a couple days later they said, Oh, I need the phone to do the setup. I said "You asked me for it when I left it there so I gave you my cell phone!!!". A couple days later they still didn't call me back so I called them to find out what was going on. They told me there is nothing they can do, it's a problem with the phone.
I took it back to the dealership "Kuni BMW" for the THIRD time after reading your posts on this forum, and told them that the people I am speaking to are saying you don't know what you are doing. They promptly found out how to set up the phone and fixed it in both of my BMW's. They really didn't seem to care that it's a 30 mile drive for two people "twice" each time I brought it there not to mention I was without a cell phone each time. They probably didn't open a workorder on the 2nd and 3rd time I brought it back so that the BMW surveys never got triggered. Which is B.S. I really wanted BMW to call me so I could let them know what happened but this never occurred. This may also be why they never called me back to let me know they're done with the car. What a great way to skew BMW manufacturer survey results. I also had to bring my 530i back to them several times to get the satellite radio to work. Each time they told me it was Cirrus's problem until I demanded they fix it. I also had to call them back to find out if the car was done each time they had it. I will never bring my 330i and 530i back to them again for service. Chris. Last edited by HPF Chris; 01-02-2006 at 12:34 PM.. |

How do I set up my 330cic to sync with my razor phone? I cannot get my dealership to tell me. Each time I go to the dealership they tell me the "one guy that knows how to do it is not there".

Bluetooth
I have had my vehicle serviced multiple times at Kuni and find them to be very professional. in fact I have bought two cars there in the last seven months. I did have an issue with my Bluetooth phone that is actually not on the approved list and they were able to pair it and make it work without any issue.
If you have a problem with their service why not take it up with the service manager rather than voicing it to BMW? The dealer is there to take care of us and getting the proper relationship is very important. No body is infallible and I can't imagine that they want to lose your business. Give them a call I think his name is Brent. |
