NJ inspection ... im modded ... please help
Hey guys, just wondering if anyone knows a good spot in NJ to get an inspection done.
I need a "friendly" shop since I am modded. Please advise. Feel free to pm me to keep it semi private lol |

I thought NJ no longer had the sniff test for inspections, just checking for any CEL's.. I think as long as you don't have any check engine lights you're good

Not sure, mine is an N55, so not sure if there is a sniff test or not, but I get the yellow cel that comes on every 50 miles if I dont have auto clear turned on or if im on map 0, does that count as a check engine light?

Yeah, you won't pass inspection lol... can't you adjust the O2 sim using your tune jb4/procede to get rid of the CEL?

get a DP fix.... than go to DMV and pass. even when your CEL goes off for 50 miles, it will not be 02 READY so you will not pass.

There is not DPfix on the G5. It still does the clearing of the code which results in the O2 system not being ready. Best bet it remove DP and install stock DP.

when you go to one of the free inspection stations, they will just give you a sticker that expires in 2016, if you have an 2011 model.
Happened to me. he didnt check anything besides year car was made.

I think the OP should go to the MVC and talk to the main guy their and just ask some questions about what the process is for your car at this stage. It's cheaper/easier to ask what are they checking at year 5 for your car and what is required to get a new 2 year sticker?
Obviously do not smog your car that day and I would personally go to a different MVC to get the actual smog done. I know for a FACT that NJ does not use the sniffer on OBD2 cars (OBD1 cars = yes for sniffer). OBD2 cars just need to make sure they have no codes (I'm not sure in your case if they will care if you have cleared the codes and have not reached readiness). So questions to ask are: 1) My car is 5 years old now, what do you need to check on it so i can get my 2 year inspection sticker? 2) (Play dumb here) If my dealership just changed my O2 sensor and they said something like my car won't be "ready" for inspection, will I fail or does it neeeeeed to be "ready" to get my 2 year inspection sticker?? (Play extra dumb/curious) How will i know when my car is "ready" done and done! |
