So my poor car is going to go back in tbe shop after picking it up Friday from a two week repair of the battery cooling system coolant compressor. I know there was a recall as well will find out tomorrow.

So they didn't take care of the steering rack recall while they had your car there? Or was it not showing as part of the recalled vehicles?

I suspect either they did something when dash apart and I know recall is backordered

When they serviced it was not showing but after the fault called the dealer and my SA ran the vin and it was showing. So now it all begins again waiting for the parts and no car.

Was there no other dealer available to perform the service? Not offering a loaner is unacceptable. In the absence of a stock loaner car, I would have insisted on a rental. BMW Northwest rented me a car due to a lack of loaners and I didn't even buy my car from them.

My local dealer put me into an i4 during my steering gear recall when I asked for something nicer than the X1 they gave me last time.

I've experienced (a) dealer(s) over here being "unable to offer a courtesy vehicle" when only recall work is being performed as BMW doesn't foot the bill.

That's awful customer service and I would never buy from such a dealership. Loaner cars are there as a courtesy for customers and a cost of doing business for the dealer. It benefits the dealer and the brand.

To divvy up loaners based on what is warranty and not warranty makes the dealer look bad. It's not the customer's problem to deal with these issues.

My dealer provides loaners even when getting service on my 10 year old 128i (if I bring it to the dealer).

It seems there is a problem with BMW dealers, and perhaps BMW itself, in the UK.

So after second trip to shop and steering and recall fixed picked it up Friday and got home today from a 48hr shift to find this in the garage. Suspect that it is leaking coolant now. Has to go back again third trip and 4 weeks in shop.

Think about using the Lemon Law in your state asap.

I wonder if it’s a bad coolant valve. I was told last year when mine leaked that it typically occurs when temps fall below 17 degrees (F). If that’s the problem and they have the part, it would be an easy fix.

Your situation reminds me why I won’t own a BMW outside of warranty.

First time I have ever purchased one and in that situation. Trust me BMW NA is invovled as well

This leak looks similar to the leak from my subframe bushings.
