Scientists are just going crazy pushing limits and I'm sure somebody out there is already developing Terminators. It's so obvious we are going down the path of Judgment Day but unfortunately, it cannot be stopped.
If you live only 5 more years, some predictions for AI enabled robots will have them in many fields (finance, medicine, manual chores, etc). 10-15 years it is a whole different world. I’m not smart enough to evaluate the timing predictions (historically predictions are optimistic), but whatever the timing this is coming very quickly.

Perhaps, or maybe the greatest opportunity ever for humanity. That’s my real interest in it; to see how to get ahead of the curve (if possible) and use these technologies well.

Here is a snippet from a post on X today. The poster is not the author but doesn’t attribute it so I can’t.

You've probably noticed that within two years, AI will exceed the financial expertise of any MBA, and the AI will be more honest.

Within five years, AI will exceed the medical expertise of any human doctor, and any attractive young woman with a black leather bikini and three hours' training can perform a prostate exam.

Within ten years, AI will exceed the engineering expertise of any human, and the AI will skip over the five years of newb mistakes required by young human engineers.

These are not new insights. The new insight is this: Ten yeas from now, why would any human endure seven years of misery in medical school? Why would any human bother to learn vector calculus? Why would any human pay an Asian grad student to do his MBA homework?

Those degree programs, and those entire professions seem doomed, in the short term.

The manual labor jobs will not last much longer. Within 20 years, Optimus IV will install a roof better than a Mexican, and it won't need Workman's Comp. Then it will do the drywall and it won't "forget" to tape the joints.

AI has already shown the ability to be dishonest. And that makes it not trustworthy for any of the jobs cited. Just one of the challenges to be overcome.

Yeah, it's fascinating and disturbing at the same time.

This chick is super cringe.. i love how they are trying to put a positive spin on AI… the problem is, there is no going back. Once AI is completely integrated- there will never be another human being born outside of the new AI world. Imagine how different the next generations will be - after being born into not just a world of smartphones but AI driven assistants anticipating our every desire. Think junk food and other vices are addictive now? Buckle up.

I feel like it's already over. We have so many egos, w companies vs companies, nations vs nations, all in the race to see who will be the best in developing AI and taking the lion's share of the market. So ironic that all these intelligent ppl can't see (i.e. can't be bothered to actually care) what's gonna happen in the distant future. We're so screwed.

There will be an economic revolution within 10 years in this country... mark my words... otherwise we will going back to indentured servitude... but I think the populace isn't smart enough to realize that.
