That video showed the bottom end of the charging curve of the iX3 and the chunky part of the charge curve is really nice and is at around 400kW for a while. If you have a bunch of really fast chargers along your route, you can hop chargers at the bottom end of the SoC curve and road trip long distances very fast; dare I say better than just about every other EV out there. |

Although I would generally agree, we all have a point where the speed difference will make us still prefer to try the less reliable and available chargers first.
In the case of the iX3, if you can find a super fast charger and you are at low SoC, you are looking at 400kW vs 200kW at the Tesla charger. If you are in a hurry, that makes a significant difference. More realistically with today's chargers, you would be looking at 350 vs 200 most of the time if you are at low SoC. All else being equal, I feel most people would go for the 350 even if it isn't as reliable. Of course if you are not in a hurry, or are stopping to eat or stretch your legs, then the speeds become insignificant the second they are above what you need to fully recharge in 1hr or so. |

*Caveat: tariffs The reviews suggest that the iX3 will be every bit a BMW, though it may have more plastic than we'd prefer. |

There are folks claiming to charge at Superchargers. Yet BMW has made no announcement.

BMW has been silent since they sent us a warning letter back in the fall: don’t use non-BMW approved adapters.

BMW announced access is coming in 2025. That’s what I think.

Best guess is OP failed to properly eject the built-in Tesla CCS adapter by long-pressing the handle. Instead, he pulled out just the standard Tesla NACS plug, put his own CCS adapter on it, and was able to charge. All of us can use these Magic Dock stations with a properly set-up Tesla app. We, however, still cannot charge at any of the other Superchargers. |

A few testers on YouTube already tried charging cars from manufacturers not onboarded to the Tesla Supercharger network and all of them failed to charge. So, I really really doubt anyone can successfully charge a BMW at a Tesla Supercharger without a "Magic Dock' adapter. As per an earlier post in this thread, BMW Tesla Supercharger access is very likely coming in July - https://bmwi.bimmerpost.com/forums/s...&postcount=518

That is a V4 dispenser. All of those are equipped with Magic Dock. Only a few V3 dispensers are retrofitted with the Magic Dock.

I charged my Tesla at a v4 earlier this week and took a picture of it. My picture may be inconclusive as to whether or not there's a hidden unactivated Magic Dock back there, but that site San Jose, CA - Race Street certainly does not show as a Magic Dock site. The site shows in the Tesla app (when vehicle set to a Ford) "Adapter or NACS Port Required". |

https://twitter.com/TeslaCharging/status/1...928872?lang=en The Tesla website says, "NACS Adapters Required for All Vehicles" Alas, this whole discussion will be moot in a couple months when BMW blesses us with official SuperCharger access. ![]() |

So what I’m interpreting is ‘not officially supported but may work at V4 stations’
One redditor claimed it worked at a V3 SC

When prior automakers came online, some specifically designated testing stations worked for those cars. For a minute. The Internet discovered them. But it meant nothing.
