My SA says some parts are on the way but can't tell me if it is for my VIN or others on the lot that are waiting

I wouldn’t take delivery of a 2023 car at this point.

That is similar to what my dealer at the other end of the country is telling me about how the airbag recall is being handled. Parts are trickling into dealers but they are not told ahead of time how many and for which vehicles they are for, but they (BMW Canada) seem to be prioritizing cars sitting at dealers with stop sales due to this recall and when the parts show up at the dealer, they are already assigned to specific VINs. Eventually they will get some not assigned to specific VINs that they will be able to use on already delivered vehicles.

Either BMW Canada shit the bed with these recalls or it is a more generalized issue across countries due to limited parts availability, but it is not your dealer's fault.

2023s are fine if you can get a discount. Otherwise silly. Unless you’re getting a 50 with air suspension.

Mine was a mid feb build, lands in the next 7-10 days.

Does anyone have a time frame for the US delivery of the EDU (electric drive unit)?

It will likely take 3 days to repair all vehicles that arrived at the dealership I am at.

The dealership did not order ahead of time, so this is why I ask.

Update: I got a part arrival update. US East Coast... 5-6 days for them to arrive and then the fix. Not bad, but at least communication is better and I can temper my expectations.

I am definitely thinking that BMW just has issues communicating. Dealerships either get bothered in excess for info, and all the frustration is coupled with not being able to get sweet info from BMW.

Awesome news for you. May I ask which dealership in Vancouver you are getting the parts? I know someone from who bought from the BMW Store already getting theirs fixed. Mine is at autowest and is still pending with no ETA..... sales guy just says "soon"....

I have been monitoring the recall site (both the official bmw site as well as the github tool). I found out on Apr 2 that all of the items on recall are now closed so I assumed that means they were fixed.

I reached out to my sales person on Monday. He said they just received the parts but the car has not been fixed, he says they are lining up the cars needing repairs and should have mine ready by END of April, which is almost a full month from now. He said only the master mechanics will be working on it.

Based on the comments in this forum, I thought that when the recalls show as closed that means that the repairs are done? Is the sales guy bullshitting me? I have had to chase this guy for every update and I cant get a straight answer. I don't understand how I am getting "First priority" for the fix yet have to wait a full month for something that should take less than a week...

My repair is taking longer than anticipated. They delayed me another week as it seems it is pretty complicated. Something about only one repair bay being able to be used. Hopefully I pick up this coming Saturday

Awesome to see so many GVA ppl here! Not so awesome to hear about your drive unit recalls…hope you get things sorted asap and not have to wait that long! But, if you can trust your guys, bright side is only the master techs are working on them.

Would you have a “renewed” warranty on the drive unit, then? ie. from date it gets repaired?

My car was "repaired" and since delivered. However, the recall is still marked as open. I think we have all been gas lit!!!

Side note: No, issues with car as of two weeks. (commute / small road trip)

And mine has been delayed again. Was told I could pick up this Saturday but then got a call saying there was still a Code, and it has not been released by BMW Canada. So none of the cars at my Dealer are actually cleared for sale.

Has anyone had this drive unit recall completed? I brought my m60 in for the airbag recall and they told me the drive unit recall is open on my October build. They ordered the parts and said it’ll be about 5-6 days to get the car back.

Mine is in the shop right now. They originally estimated 3 days...called today to add 3 additional days. As long as they do it right, I guess it's ok.
Most dealerships haven't done many of these so its taking them longer than anticipated.
