Falken Azenis FK510 or Continental DSW06 or Nope
I've done my searching and the vast majority says to stay away from these non Michelin PSSs or PS4s or Continental ExtremeContact Sports but the thing is I've put 18k miles on my brand new car (in March this year) and I plan to do that one more time as I'm traveling A TON for work (they are reimbursing me for mileage so I don't really feel all that bad).
I'm in California so the weather is moderately mellow/warm most of the time but I have a ton of chill freeway driving coming up in December > February and it may be wet. I'm thinking of going with these Cont. DSW06's only because of their ridiculous tread wear (500+) and I'm just going to be doing a ton of freeway commuting. Is this a terrible idea? I'd go with 275x30x20 (F) and 295x30x20 (R). The other option is Falken Azenis FK510s (same sizing). They're a summer/dry tire but also 1/2 the cost of Michelins. Same 300 tread life. I just figure I'd go through 2 sets of these and spend half (based on the driving I've done already). Thoughts? Thank you! |

Anyone else have experience with the Falken Azenis FK150s?
They have very few reviews on tire rack (but have good reviews). It's ~$800 for the Falkens vs ~$1400 for the super sports. Both have the same UTQG rating, but the falkens are almost half the price. Are they just not good performing tires vs the super sports? |

I picked them up...the shop messed up so I ended up with different sizes.
255x30x20 (F) 285x30x20 (R) I can tell you the rears cooked up fast. I've got about 12K on them and they're almost done, done. My stock Michelin PSSs lasted 22k. I haven't driven any differently. Traction on the FK510s are good. Wet traction, IMO, is exponentially better than the PSSs. (It's rain season which is why I got them). I'm going back to PS4s or PSSs in the summer though, for sure-no question. |
